That's bullshit. Like, Nobel invented dynamite and all that stuff AFTER Norway declared independence from the Swedish empire, he held zero ties to the nation other than possibly arms deals. Why the fuck is it held there of all places. And not only that, up until this year it would have made more sense to give out peace prizes from Stockholm instead of Oslo because until Sweden joined NATO they were a neutral nation, even if they were friendly with the West (in fact, the only neutral nation in the Nordic region). Not only was that bullshit for Joey it's also bullshit in real life.

I actually looked it up, I was given actual false information by Google because I looked up when Norway declared independence from Sweden and it told me 1814, which is actually the year Norway was conquered and added to the Swedish Empire. Rather ironic that Nobel wanted the prize to be given out from there to encourage fellowship amongst nations (especially since the Norwegian folks HATED being ruled under the Swedish crown). But my point about it being stupid that it's not given out from a neutral nation still stands.

The actual reason Nobel peace prizes are given out in Oslo instead of Stockholm is because until 1905, Norway was part of the Swedish Empire due to them being conquered by the Swedish in 1814. What's extra funny about all of this is that Nobel wanted the prizes to be given out from Oslo instead of Stockholm because he wanted to encourage fellowship amongst nations. It doesn't make much sense to me, since Norway isn't a neutral country like Sweden was (until they joined NATO this year) and neutrality seems like it would be kind of important for a prize like the Nobel peace prize.
