My wife and I, along with another couple, were on the same cruise, and while disappointed with the loss of some ports, we also had a wonderful time with the changed itinerary. We were told that the lost ports were due to excessive sea ice, so I guess that is a valid reason. We are not experienced cruisers, but we were on the similar Norwegian Jewel last fall in Alaska, and the food then was far superior to the Star. My biggest complaint about the ship was that it wasn’t the best choice for cold weather cruising, as it didn’t have any spacious lounge spaces indoors for admiring the scenery. I heard (unverified) that they had renovated the former Spinnaker Lounge (which was still intact on the Jewel) out of existence on the Star. Also, since I require a walker to get around, the Garden Cafe was a very tight squeeze with nonstop “excuse me’s” required. That said, we will be in the Norwegian Joy for the Panama Canal transit in January. Cheers, and thanks for the video.

Thanks for the review. Heading out on the Star in 10 days. Went in the Encore last year and felt the same way about the food as you in comparison to a previous NCL cruise pre 2020. Looking forward to the experience and vacation, but appreciate your review.

I was on the Norwegian Dawn in August 2023 - it was wonderful. Only one time we didn't have room to sit in the Garden Cafe. Food was mostly delicious in the Aqua. Entertainment was brilliant. I've booked the Star for next year (Iceland/Greenland). Hopefully we'll get to see all the ports but expecting some to be cancelled as that seems to be the norm with the past Iceland and Greenland cruises ....Thank you for your honest video - very good.

Yup was on the NCL Escape food out with the speciality aka paid for meals wasn't worth mentioning very very average (being generous)

Was on the Bliss to Alaska june '24. Cafe has tons of room, & no complaints here about food quality. About to be on the Star to northern Europe / Great Britain, the low lands & France.. Same ship is why I watched your video. Thanks for heads up about the cafe walkways. Hope no port cancellations. They did change a couple dock times several mknths ago, now!

Id love to give a review but the only cruise ive been on was 1993, Holland america (fl to key west to ruins of tulum to cozumel to grand cayman and jamaica). Back then, great cruise, not usually a younger crowd on Holland America. Had a great time but it was long before covid.

Will be on the Star in November. What were your thoughts on Aqua or Versailles? I have celiac disease and NCL specifically says not to eat in the Garden Buffet and they have a Special Diets Coordinator to pre-order food a day in advance but I'm wondering how much to eat at lunch in the ports😮 Great video, thanks!

I wasn't at Versailles, but I went to the Aqua once. I think I got the lamb and it was actually pretty good. O'shehans Bar has basically the same food as the garden café just serve to you by a waiter after 10 minutes of waiting. You will enjoy it 👍

No one ever reads the terms of carriage! People get super mad after a port cancellation but if they went in anyway and someone got hurt they're okay with that? No! When you go to a region like this you have to expect stuff like this. They owe you no refund or credit, read the terms of carriage

yo I was supposed to be on this but it sold out. Now I'm on the one next week. Thanks for this preview... Wild after watching this whole video because I literally was supposed to be on this cruise just to go to Greenland and waited a day too long and it sold out. That is how I ended up on the one next week with less Greenland I was upset about but seeing this... I dont even know anymore. Are the excursions worth it? I found is video deciding on them... and the thermal spa for $303

Honestly, I can't say from experience if the excursions are worth the money. I guess it depends on how much money you have, and what you think "a lot" of money is. For me, $300 to visit something with the cruise line and probably less than half that to book it on my own is a no brainer, but I'm pretty cheap. A lot of people enjoyed their excursions, and I'm happy for them. Thanks for commenting and watching my video!
