I really respect Paul and the career choices he’s making. After Normal People blew up, he could have done high budget blockbusters with A list Hollywood stars that would pay him a lot of money, but instead he’s doing small meaningful indies with unknown directors, and it’s really paying off. He’s not a sell out. Aftersun was beautiful. Edit: I’m NOT saying that doing big budget movies makes you a sell out. But sometimes when an actor blows up, the choices they make afterwards aren’t always interesting projects, but are just movies where the entire selling point is the names of the stars in it :/
@jehle17772 жыл бұрын
@P0PCRAVEgo away
@nikitamohanan21242 жыл бұрын
Umm I don't think him doing a comic book or superhero role makes him a sell out. Christian Bale and Adam Driver are great actors who have done both and did their absolute possible best with the sub par material they were given even in those films. James Gunn is overseeing DC's future plans. If he has anything interesting for Paul, like a complex villain of or anti-hero with a good script in a better well written DC movie, he should definitely at least consider it. Nolan also made 3 Batman movies and is one of Hollywood's top prestige directors working today. Is he a sell out? Isn't he a "high art director" making high concept films still? He's making whatever he wants today and people are interested.
@nikitamohanan21242 жыл бұрын
He's also doing a sci fi thriller with Saoirse Ronan next year too.
@Nancy-sf2pl2 жыл бұрын
@@nikitamohanan2124 umm where did I say that doing superhero movies would make him a sell out? Or that I was specifically referring to dc or superhero movies?? My point was that it’s very clear that he’s choosing movies that he actually cares about , and that he isn’t just doing something for a check.
@nikitamohanan21242 жыл бұрын
@@Nancy-sf2pl not just superhero or comic book movies but you said "high budget blockbuster movies". So I gave some examples of talented prestige artists who did good work in those kinds of movies even if the material failed them. But I don't consider them a sellout.

Paul’s hands down one of, if not, THE best actor of our generation. He’s such a master with the craft and it’s no wonder how he shot to stardom immediately after drama school. He can play such emotionally resonant characters that are wise beyond his years and make his characters feel so different. His performance as Connell was probably one of the greatest performances in television by a young male actor. Even in AfterSun, he just feels like a radically different person and the camera just drinks him in. I don’t know what’s the secret behind his process, but he’s going to be here for a LONG time to come. Every young actor should learn from him.
@PatkaBoy8312 жыл бұрын
A number of young actors (Kit Connor, Joe Locke, and the girl from House of the Dragon) have said they want to have similar career paths following their respective success on their hit shows. Paul is easily the standout of his generation, and you can see it with the way other people his age (and older) are reacting to him.
