I think this Actors on Actors interview just became my favorite one because Laura Dern and Eddie Redmayne both have the same warmth and level of enthusiasm, and they really seem to be genuinely interested in each other and admire the other person as a person as well as an actor. Lovely interview and got such positive emotions from it :)

I wish she had a chance of winning this year, she moved me to tears. A very soulful and authentic performance which I thought was miles ahead of Patricia Arquette.

Patrick Bateman please! She was barely in the movie. She has a couple short two-minute scenes in which she really doesn't do anything besides being kooky/goofy (which is not unlike Dern's own personality) and the rest of her performance is 10-15-second non-verbal flashback montages.. She was fine and serviceable, but not award-worthy. At least Arquette has more to do and has that perfect 5-minute monolog at the end.

+Patrick Bateman Na. Laura was great in Wild, but there's no way she was "miles ahead" of Patricia. Patricia very easily deserved that award over all of the other nominees.

Idk man... I watched the hell out of Lynch a few years ago while working on a devised play influenced by his themes and atmosphere, and Inland Empire kinda fell flat for me. I can honestly not remember what it was about, it made a very negative impact on me,... What was so amazing about it? Honest question

XSpiegel For me, his films are always about trying to figure out what the film is about. This was no different, just way more layers than ever before. I find it captivating and endlessly interesting. It's hard to get more specific due to the very nature of his work. I just know that I love it very much without understanding everything.

Oh I understand the explorative aspect, I watched Mullholland drive 3 times in a row once, with 15 min breaks to discuss it with my mates. I feel however IE was TOO MUCH about the obscurity in story-telling. the film kind of made me feel physically ill, but not in the same way as say... requiem for a dream where it drained me emotionally, but rather...Idk, in literaly unpleassent way. It's hard to explain... It wasn't a very positiv experience. That is A reaction, so I guess thats something, I remember just being very dissapointed. This happens though, you can't love every work even if you love the director. I rate his work as top 5 film catalogues(and Twin peaks ofc) of all time.
