Hearing from everyone who worked on those films, I've barely heard a bad word about the experience. Grueling, physically taxing, mentally challenging, but all in all a very good time in their lives, with wonderful memories! For Bloom especially, it was very much like going away to college. That age, 18, 19, 20, 21, those pivotal years in a young person's life. Many actors at that age are not going to a regular college experience; they kind of miss out on that type of thing at that age. Going from gig to gig, as actors often do. Having that solid stable work for several years in a row, working with the same people- all of whom got along very well with each other. Must have been a magical time!

It's crazy that Orlando Bloom was part of some of the most influential productions in the early 2000s. Not only LotR and Pirates, but he was also in Black Hawk Down, Troy and Kingdom of Heaven. He actually has a really impressive track record, which makes it a little weird that he didn't capitalize on his success like Brad Pitt or Leo DiCaprio.

actually he talked about being lost in all of this success and took a step back to do indie movies. Leo and Brad really built up their career with time. @samvimes20616 ай бұрын
@@immortaljanus I feel the movie really misses out a key point from the Illiad that makes Paris and Helen more sympathetic. Both of them are explicit pawns of Aphrodite who makes the fall in love. Hera and Athena are also brewing that war for their enmity towards Aphrodite and Paris choice in their beauty contest. So much of Greek tragedy was rooted in unavoidable destiny. What's interesting is how non-judgmental Homer is towards the pair. Helen is written singing a lement to her choice before the duel. And Paris' father comforts her in both the poem and the movie. I'm glad that translated, at least. And Agamemnon's ambition is a stand-in for the divine puppeteering happening behind the war.

Memory about Orlando Bloom, I sat at DMV in West Hollywood doing my driving test, its a really small room and they gave us chairs along the corridor, and I literally doing my text on my lap and then someone just passed me by and stepped on my foot. And I just heard: "oh I am sorry", i was like ok, it happens. I looked up and it was Orlando Bloom. 10 minutes later he walked back and again stepped on my foot and again "Oh, I am sorry". Later officer told us that its very popular location for celebrities to do their DL. Later that year I saw Iron Man there)))

The fact that he didn't even want to play Paris in Troy, and hated his own bits, but did them anyway JUST so the audience will loathe his character...makes me appreciate him even more lol what an actor 🙏

I think a friend of mine commented it's Paris's face that would launch a thousand ship instead of Helen's in the Troy movie. Diane Kruger is a fine looking lady, but Orlando was fresh of his pretty boy look as Legolas in LOTR.

I clearly remember going to see Pirates of the Caribbean in the theater and there wasn't really a lot of buzz surrounding it. It was really just another random summer adventure movie. You know that feeling in the air when you leave the theater and everyone excited cause they just saw a damn good movie who ended on a high note? It was definetly like that

Ironically, I found his performance as Paris in Troy (2004) to be amongst his best. Courage and love at the end, cowardice and love at the start.

Christ this man looks GREAT for his age. When I was a teenager, I had a poster of him as a young man in a place of pride on my door to go with some of my LOTR posters. Not ashamed to admit it, I had such a crush, and I think I still do! Rooting for him and I wish him nothing but the best!

it makes me sad a bit to see him looking older. In my head he's still looking like he did in LOTR and Pirates... and seeing him older makes me realize how long it's been since the movies came out ---> and how old I am myself now :(

It's crazy how time flies. Orlando bloom was only 24 when the fellowship of the ring was filmed. My mom, my cousins, my aunt and my uncle rented fellowship of the ring to watch and the very next night we watched pirate sof the carribean. I was so excited to see legolas in another movie. I was only 10 then. I'm 31 now and Orlando bloom is 47. I feel like I grew up with him and his movies. Love your Orlando ❤️

Tbh i wouldn't count him among my favorite actors, i honestly don't know if i even have a top 5 because there are so many great actors and actresses, BUT he is undeniably a GOAT. My favorite movie ever is Kingdom of Heaven and my favorite trilogy is LoTR. Safe to say, Mr. Bloom has had a major impact on my life.

I haven’t seen all of Orlando’s movies, but besides the mentioned ones I really liked Elizabethtown alongside Kirsten Dunst. Seemingly simple movie about a simple life, about a guy failing at work and then his father dies, but, I think, I liked to watch actors playing out the simple human life rather than Orlando being this superhero Legolas (which is cool, but after all gives variety to actor, when it comes to roles). The other movie I totally loved was The Good Doctor, where he portrayed a new doc that struggles with loneliness, therefore, at one moment he befriends a young female patient, but starts to poison her with wrong medicine, so, she doesn’t go away from him. The girl eventually dies, and then there’s the hard aftermath, and, I think, what I loved the most was how Orlando’s character gets back into daily life, smiles and everything and then the movie just abruptly ends. Loved that! Tbh, I thought that this movie was quite underrated as it triggers not the best parts of human and makes people question how far one can go in order to make themselves feel better. Peculiar and very interesting.

I think the success of films like LOTR and Pirates prevented Orlando from being typecast. It's a bit like with Harrison Ford, he's not just Han Solo, but also Indiana Jones as well.
