This just made me realize that a lot of animal abandonment and dumping at shelters could be because of these situations. Survivors know that, in their absence, the next thing to be abused or neglected is their beloved pet and have no other option. Never even realized this component! We gotta do better.

And a bunch of other reasons. Lots of people, for a variety of reasons, end up in unstable lives and cannot care for their pets. They love them but do not have the means to keep them. People escaping family violence, community violence, natural disasters, or homelessness. So many ways one’s life can be upended. :(

Yeah as someone who cant have pets because of allergies ive never thought of how much that would definitely affect ppl leaving. It seems so obvious now that she’s mentioned it but its something ive never even thought of.

Omg I was in a similar situation, although it wasn't with a husband or boyfriend. It was my grandmother from my father's side. In my early 20s I lost my home due to a flood. I had to move in with my grandmother. Took my dog with me. She was a horrible bully who abused me emotionally. I wanted so desperately to get out of there, but knew I couldn't afford a place that was suitable for my dog's needs. So I stayed because it was the best place for my dog. It was so hard. But I cared more about my dog's well being than my own happiness. I loved her so much. ❤

If you are in a similar situation please check with your local animal shelters. I worked at one that would care for and house animals of domestic abuse survivors until they could get them back. You are not alone. There is always someone who wants to help you.

Not to defend her or anything, in some ways your right. However this is an example of real life where Sarah is an actress who experienced domestic violence in real life. Blake Lively just acted in a movie. It’s difficult to understand what people go through. Sarah even says it herself in her speech. You have to remember that when Actors go on Press Junkets, they are told what to do or say. How do you know that she wasn’t given the material by the Producers and the Company who made the movie? Sometimes we have to remember that these people are actors and they aren’t always in control. Just because they are in the lead and make all the money! I think it was a wasted opportunity too because it could have been a great opportunity for a huge message to be sent. But Justin Baldoni made mistakes as well. I think they all missed an opportunity over ridiculous reasons and rumours, which are just that, made it worse. You all keep saying Blake Lively could learn from this. Well so can all of you. Because all anyone can talk about is Blake Lively and her behaviour or what she is doing or not doing, that you haven’t even noticed you’re not talking about it either!! So what makes you any different from her? This here is someone who experienced it 1st hand and it should not be compared to a ridiculous, rumour filled fiction movie when we can learn from the people who are the true victims. We can hear what women and men can do in a situation. In real life. So listen to that. Stop worrying about someone who played a part in a movie and you don’t like. Just go and look up these foundations and see if you can help out in anyway. That would be the greatest thing ever. Purina is an amazing brand and they are heavily based on TikTok so check them out.
