I've been to Austria twice in 2019, and the ÖBB announcement chime was so perfect with the taurus 1116/1016. Only these both were enough for making me impressed. And in December 2021, i went to Austria again and waiting for the full announcement+chime, and guess what? They placed a garbage announcement chime, so disappointed in there. Also greetings to that train driver who took me to Erdberg(kinda). He was the best one, and i just wanted to write this memory of mine here, because the ÖBB and CD has memories on me.

The German chime is more used for long-distance departure announcements (ICE, IC, EC) and when their doors are closing. This is based on my experience though.
@captainsteve6664 жыл бұрын
Even if it's a bit late, the German one is a automatic voice, but it have to be activated by the Train Conductor. But not every Conductor is doing it. It is used for long-distance trains like EC, IC, ICE, RJX, TGV... Mostly they are doing it on the main/bigger stations.

As a person who grew up in Brașov(where the jingle comes from), let me tell you i have a straight up horror experience not only the bad quality speaker makes the jingle distorted in person, its also doesn't help that many homeless people seek shelter in the train station in the main corridor under the train tracks, and well the corridor... Lets just say it has seen better days , its walls are rotting and a bit of dust comes down as a train passes by from above. Oh and i almost forgot to mention that at night half of the lights dont work so you almost just see the displays (many of them doesn't work) and the coming train from the distance. Not to mention the climate, as Brașov is literally built on a mountain/hill it gets cold often, and let me tell you all does things above i mentioned, its a nightmare to wait for the trains, and you ask why can't i just come to the station when the train is scheduled to arrive?- well its not possible cuz the trains often are late or comes earlier. And yeah as you mentioned it has a VERY post apocalyptic feeling, if you want to grew some balls i recommend you to stay there at night for 30 minutes and explore it.
