Fantastic footage. A great tribute to an iconic aircraft. Oh! It was also a great reminder of ...when NZ had an Air Force

Great footage! I'm from Ireland and we are very similar in the sense we once had a jet combat capability but since 1999 we haven't. We used to operate a fleet of six Fouga CM170 Magisters (I know, very old aircraft but they were better then nothing) which made up the Light Strike Squadron of the Irish Air Corps. They were retired in 1999 and never replaced. Currently our only combat capable aircraft are 8 Pilatus PC-9M turboprop trainers. While perfect for training new pilots and some air to ground combat, they have little to no air to air and intercept ability. Whats most annoying is that we could easily afford jets such as the JAS39C Gripen or the KAI FA-50. Considering that 90% of all transatlantic traffic passes through Irish airspace, its dangerous and lazy of the Irish government to not invest in combat jet aircraft. I would also support New Zealand bringing back their jet aircraft.

With the world being what it is maybe we need to get some more fighters say a few F-18 Hornets and tack them on to the Aussie airforce.

Been away from NZ for 30+ years, but makes me feel all patriotic. Elections later this week. I know which party will NOT be getting my vote as they destroyed one of the important diplomatic threads we had with our allies due to their policies.

Great footage but a lot of it was repeated a few times over.
