Our short film, "VARNA" is an artistic story in a small village from the coastal region of Karnataka. The plot revolves around Basava, a naive cattleman who faces societal inequality on a regular basis and his inability to express his plight due to his held-back introverted nature. It emphasises the generation gap and discriminatory practices contrary to the bonding of Basava and his close companion Mohana, whose friendship is beyond racial and cultural barriers.
Our short film snagged several awards.It's a fantastic recognition of the hard work and creativity poured into the project. Special owned best director award

Wow, just watched 'Varna' and I'm blown away! The way it wraps up the theme of what it means to be human in such a short span is truly remarkable. The storytelling, cinematography, and acting were all top-notch. Kudos to the entire team for creating such a thought-provoking piece of art. Can't wait to see more from you all.👏👏👏

ನಮ್ಮ ಹಳ್ಳಿ ಕಡೆ ಇವಾಗಲು ಈ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಇದೆ. ಯಾರಿಗೆ ಬಂತು 47ರ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಅನ್ನೋದು ಇನ್ನೂ ಗೊಂದಲವಿದೆ.

ಅಣ್ಣಾ ಮೊದಲು ಸತ್ಯ ಏನಂತ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊ ವರ್ಣ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಮಾಜದ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಮಾಜವನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣವೂ ಊಹೆನೂ ಮಾಡೋದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗಲ್ಲ ವರ್ಣ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಮಾಜದ ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆನೇ ಇಲ್ಲ ಈ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ರೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಆಗೋದು ಚಾತುರ್ವರ್ಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲದೇ ಇರೋ ನೂರಾರು ಜಾತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂವಿಧಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಹಿಂದೆ ಇದ್ದ ಕುಲಕಸುಬು ಆಧಾರದ ವರ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು ವಿಂಗಡಿಸಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಜಾತಿ ಪ್ರಾತಿನಿಧ್ಯ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಆ ಜಾತಿಯವನ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವನು ಅದೇ ಜಾತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಜಾತಿ ಆಧಾರದ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಪತ್ರ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಒಂದೊಂದು ಜಾತಿಯವರಿಗೆ ವಿವಿಧ ರೀತಿಯ ಅಸಮಾನ ಮೀಸಲಾತಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ , ಉದ್ಯೋಗ, ಮುಂಬಡ್ತಿ, ನಿವೃತ್ತಿವರೆಗೂ ಬೇರೆ ತರಹದ ಮೀಸಲಾತಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪ್ರತಿಭೆ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಒಂದು ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ಜಾತಿಯವರು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮೀಸಲಾತಿ ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಥವಾ ತೀರಾ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲ ಜಾತಿಯವರಿಗೆ 15-17% ಮೀಸಲಾತಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳು ಇದ್ದರೂ ಕಷ್ಟಪಟ್ಟು ದುಡಿಯದೇ ಮೀಸಲಾತಿ ಆದಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಗಿಟ್ಟಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ತಾವು ಹಿಂದೆ ಶೋಷಿತರು ಎಂದು ಸಿಂಪತಿ ಗಿಟ್ಟಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಕೊನೆಯವರೆಗೂ ಕೆಲ ಜಾತಿಗಳು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಮೀಸಲಾತಿ ತಿಂದು ತೇಗೋ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ಇದೆ ಸಂವಿಧಾನದ ಮೂಲಕ ಇದನ್ನೇ ಇವತ್ತು ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಪಕ್ಷಗಳು ದುರ್ಬಳಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ, ಮತ್ತು ಸಂವಿಧಾನದ ಜಾತಿ ಕಾಲಂ ಹುಟ್ಟು ಆಧಾರಿತ ಮೀಸಲಾತಿ ಇದೆ ಆದರೆ ಆ ಚಾತುರ್ವರ್ಣ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಹುಟ್ಟಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಆಗ್ತಾ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅವನ ಗುಣ ಸ್ವಭಾವ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ಮದ ಆದಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಆಗ್ತಾ ಇತ್ತು, ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಜ್ಞಾನಾರ್ಜನೆ ಮಾಡೋದು ತಾನು ತಿಳಿದ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಬಾರಿಸೋರು ಯಾರೇ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಅವರು ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರೇ ಆಗ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರು ಮತ್ತು ತನಗೆ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಾಡೋ ಗುಣ ಅಥವಾ ಸಮಾಜವನ್ನು ದೇಶವನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಮಾಡೋ ಕರ್ಮ ಮಾಡೋರು ಯಾರೇ ಆದರೂ ಅವರು ಕ್ಷತ್ರಿಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಕೃಷಿ ಮಾಡೋಕೆ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಇರೋರು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ವ್ಯಾವಹಾರಿಕ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಇರೋರು ಯಾರೇ ಆಗಿದ್ದರೂ ವೈಶ್ಯರು ಆಗ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರು ಮತ್ತು ಸೇವಾ ಮನೋಭಾವ ಉಳ್ಳವರು, ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡೋ ಗುಣ ಉಳ್ಳವರು ಸ್ವ ಇಚ್ಛೆಯಿಂದ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡೋರು , ಪರಾವಲಂಬಿಗಳಾಗದೇ ಸ್ವಾವಲಂಬಿ ಆಗಿ ಸ್ವಾಭಿಮಾನಿಯಾಗಿ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ವಹಿಸಿ ದುಡಿಯೋರು ಯಾರೇ ಆದರೂ ಶೂದ್ರರೇ ಆಗಿರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಶೂದ್ರ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಖಂಡಿತಾ ಕೀಳಲ್ಲ ಈ ಚಾತುರ್ವರ್ಣ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳೋ ಬುದ್ದಿಹೀನರು ಆ ರೀತಿ ಮಾತಾಡ್ತಾರೆ ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಿತವಾಗಿ ಇರೋದಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ರೀತಿ ವರ್ಣ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಜರು ಮಾಡಿದರು ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಲು ಕೀಳು, ಅಸ್ಪೃಶ್ಯ ಯಾವುದು ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅದು ಕಾಲಾನಂತರ ಸಹಸ್ರಾರು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ನಂತರ ಬಂದದ್ದು ಈ ವರ್ಣ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿಕೊಂಡು ವಿಕೃತಿಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ಜನರಿಂದ ಮತ್ತು ಚಾತುರ್ವರ್ಣ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೇ ಸಮಾಜದ ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆನೇ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಸಮಾಜವನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣ ಊಹೆಯೂ ಮಾಡೋದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗಲ್ಲ ಸಮಾಜದ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ ಇದನ್ನು ಅರಿತೇ systematic ಆಗಿ ಕ್ರಮಬದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಜರು ಈ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಗುಣಾಧಾರಿತ ಕರ್ಮಾಧಾರಿತವಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು ಅಷ್ಟೇ.

Should make a way for the fellow caste people in rural areas who are still facing problems because of their caste. Some reforms are required in reservation system. I seen lot of movies related to caste, but they shown very sensitively about Christian missionary conversation here, how they encashing our castism to convert Hindu's, Demographic changes is too dangerous for any country. I really appreciate you people shown the way about Christians missionary conversation. Hindus should unite soon to save themselves by leaving caste system, otherwise Hindus will face worst situation soon...

Very well done and this subject needs more attention. I had always heard about this discrimination but I escaped it as my parents had moved to the city already. This is a primary problem that’s cancerous to the community/society and does exist in many forms. Politicians are still playing to these divides and we tend to get carried away without being critical and sort it where we can. Good effort by the team to bring this out in a very relatable and natural manner 👏

U can see more in big cities also, if u go and ask for a house for rent or lease then first question is which caste you are?? If you say I am SC, you can't get a house, this is my own experience

Same problem for us in education and govt jobs - First they offer it to you. You can abuse any caste. If anyone speaks one word against you, we can be jailed.
