Greetings from Birju Maharaj Parampara! Dear viewers, though the Vaarshikotsav (annual festival) of Parampara, as the name suggests, is an annual feature that showcases the talent of its students every year, it is not merely a show. Every year brings in new students, new programs, new learning and new experiences, which together, make each Vaarshikotsav special. The Vaarshikotsav is the culmination of all the hard work and effort that goes in throughout the year, as Birju Maharaj Parampara tries to keep alive the Guru-Shishya parampara, synonymous with the Gharana and Guru that inspire its name and origin.
Here you will find glimpses of the 2023 Vaarshikotsav where you will see new faces, costumes, performances and above all, enthusiasm. All of this has been achieved after three months of hard work and rehearsals. The discipline of the class is very different from the discipline of a performance. It teaches you new things, tests you in new ways and helps to polish the performer in you. All of this effort is in the hope of taking one more step in the right direction as an artist, because being an artist is a journey, not a destination. This year's Vaarshikotsav was only possible due to the support of the parents who are trying to keep their children in touch with our rich cultural heritage. We would like to thank these lovers and guardians of the art form of Kathak whose constant support helps us to continue this artful journey.
