it's not really powercreep between them as much as it is from the enemies, most of the newer enemies are too heavy to be affected by Venti's burst, but Kazuha can pull them together just fine with his skill. if it's a floor where it's all trash mobs that CAN be pulled by Venti, he's undisputedly the best

the thing is, venti's fall from grace has a lot less to do with kazuha specifically when you really think about it, because even sucrose is better than him at this point. they all perform similar things, but it's different enough that they should cover different niches. kazuha gives better buffs and is generally more preferred, yes, but venti has unmatched cc. the problem is that hyv has to always actively work around that fact, bc being able to permanently stun-lock enemies in a giant wind vortex is TOO strong. venti's cc breaks the game unfortunately, but kazuha and sucrose's weaker cc is just the right balance, and so it has lead to venti being indirectly nerfed.

i have them both and use them in different teams in abyss! venti is still great for gathering tiny mobs like specters or fungi, it's just that the game actively nerfs him by making most new enemies unable to be caught in his vortex (fontaine enemies are big offenders in this)

Venti has its own niche. He has the fast tick burst + small elemental dmg afterwards. Venti tuned to initiate swirls in various elements and reapply it just for the sake of long lasting swirls.

While Kaveh is locked in hoyo's basement and no one has him, a lot of people who did pull for him probably still play him bc they love him so much (I have him triple crowned). He is by far the best written Sumeru character, especially if you consider him and Alhaitham as a pair, and his voice acting is superb, so a lot of people grew very attached to him. It also helped that the Akademiya event had the best event story we've had in a while, all focused on Kaveh. But just like Kaveh, that event is gone, so he really is a 'you had to be there' character.

To be honest, this is still just a perspective of the user base that actually cares about endgame/optimising. The majority are casual players that play who they like. An example is my sister, whose account I go on to play/build characters I don’t have. Her only requirements are that if I build someone, it can only be characters she likes/uses. So, Kaveh is on Nilou’s team and let me tell you, the high floor of Nilou bloom is so busted for casuals that Kaveh does not feel weak, and feels quite fun to play

I'm the type who stubbornly uses my favorite characters even if they're weak and there's one team where Kaveh is king: shatter bloom. You just build him with a ton of ER and EM and put him with some hydro and cryo characters and boom, solid team. He's one of the only characters who can consistently proc shatter, which scales on EM, because he uses a greatsword

But basically any cryo and hydro characters with a lot of off field application will work, and you could probably use Layla as a flex character even though the cryo resonance isn't as great as the others

I'm not crazy about the meta. I pull for characters because I want them and that's all there is to it. Wriothesley was my first 5* and I love him to pieces. Heizou and Kaeya were my go-to's for DPS before him and I still go back to them sometimes. I got Ayato completely by accident and didn't bother pulling for Neuvi even on his rerun when I knew just how powerful he was by comparison. Kaveh may not be the strongest, but I resonate with him deeply as a character and he will always have a spot on my account if he ever decides to come home

I have Kaveh - I even built him 'cause Claymores are my favourite weapon type, and I think he's fun, but kinda clunky. His range implies that he's supposed to be the one to generate Dendro cores at close range, but without his Burst, he can't do that, and his particle generation is awful. So he demands a lot of field time, but doesn't supply himself with the means to achieve anything significant. But what really annoyed me with him is his first Ascension passive, which heals him for 300% of his EM when he gets hit by a Dendro Core. This is the only instance where his EM is taken into account across his kit - none of his other passives, none of his talents, and none of his constellations draw from his EM. And I get that a Dendro character with focus on Bloom would need a good amount of EM, but I hate that this is the only instance where his kit even acknowledges his split scaling. And even then, only his second Ascension passive even provides him with an EM buff at all.

Kaveh does have a pretty massive damage bonus to bloom dmg, the problem is that the buff only applies to blooms he created himself. Kaveh's main issue is more of a fault of the elemental guage system. Even if you had perfect ER and EM balance, Kaveh can't generate bloom cores quickly due to Dendro very quickly overriding hydro auras on enemies. Once Dendro is the dominant aura, it becomes hard to wipe it since you need double the amount of Hydro to clear a Dendro aura. Kaveh's Dendro application is slow enough to facilitate this, but only if paired with strong applicators like Xingqiu, and you don't use his burst and skill right after each other since they have different ICDs, and you can't pair him with another Dendro character cause then it'll be too much Dendro application. That's too many restrictions placed upon Kaveh from just the elemental guage system alone.

I love Kaveh in many ways. He's such a great driver for my Nilou team since Nahida CANNOT tank these huge loads of boosted cores but he CAN take it ALL and get out full. And I hate YaoYao's immovable creature that forces you to either place it very responsible or run around it while Kaveh just be like: "Nilou buffed? Nahida marked? Xingqiu ulted? It's a SHOW TIME!" proceeds to ult, goes in, makes sure everything's dead, remembers he doesnt get paid for that and gets some time for a quick mental breakdown before I force him to fight again.

For a player to be allowed to permanently damage another player's world in co-op means Hoyo was not sanitizing the data before committing it, which is horribly negligent for a game that had already been live for years...

The next WNOP for Star Rail should be Yukong. She's in a similar predicament with Kaveh where she hasn't had a rerun since DHIL's release which was back in August. Harmony has become competitive with its units and Yukong has fallen off from the competition, her buffs are strong and has good payoff but it gets squandered because she is very hard to use. Not to mention that she is very dependent on Eidolons so not having a rerun almost 10 months hurts her usage even more. I have long-retired using Yukong because I acquired more Harmony units who are more efficient to use compared to her. Hopefully she finally has a rerun in 2.4 with Xianzhou characters.

He might not be the most *efficient* character, but in looking for a way to use Kaveh, I found a fun sort of half-synergy that makes him work, at least well enough for me - Kaveh, C2 Nahida, Nilou, and Furina. The big perk on top of his bloom core damage buff, is that Furina's overflow healing passive constantly procs on Kaveh's self-heal from the crazy amount of cores I can generate with this team, effectively turning her into a team-wide heal generator. Might not be the best team ever, but definitely works pretty well ^-^

8:30 just a quick sidenote, you can get 2 bloom cores to deal damage at the exact same time but that's the maximum. Only after the mentioned 0.5 seconds cooldown (starting after the first core hits) you can deal damage with bloom cores again. You wont lose any damage by detonating 2 bloom cores with his skill but you will still lose damge when detonating more than 2.

the fact i got C6 kaveh in the small bit of time hes existed on actual limited banners amazes me. because how his kit is, if he was our only hydro claymore(its intresting that we still lack certain element+weapons still), he would be a better character. having him be entirely built to make dendro cores with the fact he also has the bonus scaling makes him a decent spot to be the bloom trigger. but because of him being dendro and dendro taking the more hydro aura when doing bloom makes the limited amount of actions you can do a lot less to get cores to come into existance. its even more funny that infusion him with candace, he feels like he can fit in better teams then if he wasnt.

The main issue with Kaveh is that he focuses on Bloom, and has direct EM scaling because of it, but wants to normal attack. This forces him into Quickbloom Teams, pretty much always, or Nilou, as you mentioned. But in Quickbloom teams, we struggle with the issue of: Kaveh now needs Crit Rate, Crit Damage, lots of EM, and a SHIT ton of ER, because his burst is expensive and he barely generates particles. If you can meet all those requirements within his build, then he's actually quite a strong DPS, his normal attack scalings are pretty decent with ATK, and Spread gives him a naturally high base floor in terms of damage, and then any blooms he does detonate will still hurt. Oh, another issue is that Kaveh kind of wants heavily contested units on his teams to function, he wants high bloom generation, but also low enough hydro application to make use of his Dendro Infusion to Quicken/Spread. So, a strong team for him would have to be something like: Kaveh, Nahida, Raiden/Kuki, and Furina... It's just too much to expect anyone to build, he has potential, but just really needed lower ER requirements, and innate EM scaling on his Normal Attacks.

Personally, I use him in a Nilou team with Nahida and Xingqiu, where Kaveh is the driver. I beleive his slower attack speed works in his favor, because he's less likely to overwhelm Xingqiu's hydro application that way. So more often than not, Nahida and Kaveh often alternate between creating bloom cores. It's an unfortunate side effect of the dendro core reaction limiting damage instances that makes him seem suboptimal for this role. Regardless of that fact though, he still fills that role competently, and enemies still die VERY fast. The fact that he scales with EM as his ascension stat, gains bonus EM with his ultimate, and boost dendro core damage higher makes him the driver with the highest reaction damage potential out of all the other candidates, whilst also making himself effectively unkillable while bloom cores are happening. If they ever wanted to improve him, it would be a simple matter of removing dendro core damage instance ICD, and/or Making so he claims complete ownership of any dendro cores he detonates. Either one of these will make damage output more consistent, but both combined would probably break the game.

I only have him at c2, I was wondering if he could be use in a team with Xinqiu, Beidou and fischl at c6. Beidou doesn't detonate hyperbloom and Fischl is not good at it either so the remaining blooms could be manually detonated. My Kaveh is really good too but I can't test this build since I don't have him at C6. I think it could be good at the second side of the current abyss.

@@pencilonpaper1026 Nilou team was where i first tried him, he felt so clunky. In my eyes, bountiful cores don't need help detonating as they burst way quicker than normal cores. My Nilou team deletes everything w/o him, so I really don't know where to use him. I might try the comp that @Irustua suggested next.

The one thing that would have saved Kaveh is if rupturing cores changed their ownership and EM calculations to Kaveh’s EM and bonuses. That way instead of needing to build every character EM in bloom, Kaveh would have let you build all your characters ADC except him. Further, this would make him synergize with Baizhu, who only buffs the on-field character’s reactions.

Man, the reason I LOVE using Kaveh as a driver in a Nilou team is because of his survivability and convenience He literally gets HEALED by Nilou, as opposed to the rest of characters, who get nuked in Nilou teams for 3 seconds of field time. I've found the best team to be Nilou, Kaveh, Xingqiu and Baizhu (Baizhu being there to heal Nilou and Xingqiu, as well as to provide staggering resistance to Kaveh on top of Xingqiu's and Kaveh's own staggering resistance and proc the dendro artifact set effect) In this team, unless you get one-shotted, Kaveh cannot die. Literally. He can take all the damage from any mob, he can have bleeding on him, bond of life, burning status, anything that drains HP rapidly, but the bloom cores explode faster, which heal him and keep him at full health consistently. Best part about him is, since bloom cores damage depends more on Nilou's HP, the only thing you really need to build on Kaveh is his energy recharge, as to be able to build your ult for every rotation (I keep it at 170-180). His EM is not really that relevant damage wise, but it gives you healing bonus, so it's worth building a bit on it, he does great at 300-400 EM. And while yes, his normal attacks don't have amazing multipliers, because of the nature of his kit and play style (constantly losing HP and healing) he is eligible to use the marechausse artifact set, which means you can build more damage on him as a driver without needing to hyper invest on crit rate, letting you focus on EM, crit dmg and atk (nowhere near to the amount of damage Alhaitham deals on field, really, however Alhaitham kills himself the fastest in Nilou teams) or you could just use favonius on him with this set and not have to rely on ER substats as much Also, since he uses a claymore, he's awesome good at wearing down shields that ANY other Nilou electible team member would struggle to break (ie: cryo, geo shields) since hydro has no claymores and Kaveh is the only dendro claymore So all things mentioned considered, even though extremely niche, you end up with a Nilou team driver, almost completely unstaggering, borderline immortal that breaks shields with a very straightforward rotation Nilou Q (if available) > Nilou E > Baizhu E > Baizhu Q > Xingqiu Q > Xingqiu E > Kaveh Q > Normal ATK > Kaveh E (and repeat) This team has genuinely helped me 36* abyss with ease so many times because of its survivability and versatility. You can handle multiple waves and highly mobile mobs unlike Nahida and Traveler respectively. It's biggest weakness being single target and hydro-dendro resistant enemies. Edit: I might keep adding more pros to this as I remember more, don't mind me editing it 💀

I was lucky enough to get C5 Kaveh on his realise banner and I’ve gotten him at least twice since then. But I agree he’s not great. I built him because I like him, and he’s good for mining, to only use on Nilou teams. But even there he’s outclassed by my Dendro Traveler, and he’s not using Gilded Dreams, Kaveh is. What! Maybe he should have been a support, though I’m not sure how.

I think, even Kaveh has a niche in Nilou-teams. most of the time i can't keep nahida on-field to drive dendro, since she gets blown up by the cores. i haven't built kaveh, but since the reactions solely depend on level and EM, he shouldn't fall of far behind a 5* and his self-healing from those cores will make him not go boom. i don't know the exact numbers, but he should be a solid pick because of him not dying.

I didn’t get kaveh when he came out and after doing his hangout and looking more into him, he’s one of my favorite characters!(he’s literally me) and I’ve been saving for him and Alhaitham! Plus they're all still the best of their niche second. Venti is the god of cc, he still is provided the content itself allows for it, any abyss chamber that has groupable enemies is still demolished by him. Zhongli is still the best shielder in the game, Raiden is still the best battery in the game. They're still the best at what they are designed to do. Archons were never designed as dps in the first place.

Usually you go direct to the point, but here you insisted time and over again on remembering how "bad" he is for Hyperbloom (is Kuki bad because she's only good for Hyperbloom, even though Hyperbloom is busted?) and Burgeon, and then you go into Bloom to remember how useless the ability to explode cores prematurely is. (And if you didn't say directly that this ability is useless, then let those be my words instead. It is, indeed, useless. And that's beyond fine.) But you never stopped and considered whether or not any of this makes any difference on the performance of the character on its niche, after all. And a lot of that is due to assuming that the character has no niche whatsoever and working on explaining why instead of asking yourself if such assumptions are even true to begin with. Yes, exploding cores prematurely is useless, but it's not like his kit is built around doing so in any way, shape, or form. A dead giveaway of this aspect is the fact that even his C4 isn't tied to him causing the explosion of the cores, but rather _creating_ them (not saying that this constellation is good, but that's not the point here). I dare to say that Kaveh's ability to explode cores is just a fun mechanic that was introduced with the intent of giving him style points and perhaps allowing some fun exploration shenanigans. Trying to "extract" more from (what I think is) a gag mechanic is completely nonsensical; Not unlike some people on honeyhunter I debated with, prior to Furina release, thinking that she was bad because she didn't heal well (lo and behold, her heal mode turned out to be just a small side bonus to a completely broken OP character, just like I predicted). On that note, have you seen what is his most used artifact set? Flower of Paradise Lost! If that's not a grave sign of misuse, then I don't know what else is... (Though, seeing by how elusive Kaveh has been, it's no surprise that, from the few people who own him, even fewer know what to do with him or even want to do something with him to begin with). Yes, he's not the best Dendro character for anything. And given certain conditions, he's not the second best for anything either. BUT the other two characters that can beat him in his niche (which, to the best of my knowledge, is Nilou Bloom) are Baizhu and C2 Nahida. Not the most inexpensive alternatives, I would say. Surely, trying to get Kaveh right now may as well be harder than getting Baizhu AND 3 copies of Nahida, but you could also have gotten him by chance, which won't happen for limited characters unless you are a moron / gambling addict. Let's not forget that this also assumes that you have no use for Dendro characters on other halves of the Abyss... And finally, dear Christ, YES! Man's needy! Getting him to work consistently requires up to 230% Energy Recharge (no Favonius), which can be quite challenging to achieve with Instructor set. Even 5 star artifact sets (of which I believe only Memories of Deep Woods is useful for him) may need Favonius Greatsword to achieve 210% ER while having good EM levels. Then... You also want some Elemental Mastery in order to heal well. But it's doable, and you don't have to go out of your way to do so if you are planning to use Instructor. I did it. And when you achieve his requirements, there are no drawbacks to be considered (12 seconds worth of non-stop Dendro application every 20 seconds is more than enough to exhaust the uptime of most off-field Hydro abilities, including Nilou's and Kokomi's).
