It's kinda crazy to how this is the same band that wrote "vomit for a mind, maggots for a cock" (I love all their albums btw). This was a great analysis!

We all have a scavenger in our own lifes, somebody that inflict pain and suffering on to you, somebody that makes you feel worthless and thinks they are always right. Also amazing video, you should have more subscribers.

I first discovered Death when I was 15, almost 10 years now, and I was blown away. It was my first death metal band, and when it clicked.. oh boy. Symbolic has always been my favorite album by them, but as the years go by, I find myself returning more and more to The Sound Of Perseverance, and I think is my favorite one now. It surely is Chuck's most mature and complex offering ever at the very least...

One of my favorites! The drums, the ferocity of the guitars, and omg when Chuck screams “WHAT PAIN, WILL IT TAKE, TO SATISFY, YOUR, SICK, APPETITE, GOING FOR THE KILLLLL” omg such a great sounding record.

I used to think the whole album was a metaphor for his battle with cancer. But it was written well before he got sick. Still it does fit well when viewed in that context ❤
@VARVIS_ Жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree. I always kinda viewed it the same way. It is almost clairvoyant in a way. Truly just what an amazing artist Chuck was.

The time of this song is just... beautiful. The drumming, the quality, tempos, time signatures, it's like popping red lights in a black space. It's crazy.

Death is amazing. A band that was completely finished about a year before I was even born but one of the greatest I've discovered. Music I'd refer to as "The Real Deal" . Great analysis

Such an amazing storytelling in a song. I don't like the fact that it has no transitions between riffs particularly in that album. But maybe he wanted to transmite a beautiful caos. Anyway, scarveger of human sorrow is a great piece of art

I think you're right. When he says, "Live how you want. Just don't feed on me." One would say this to a person. Trying to avoid conflict, which will not resolve an issue. "Shallow are words from those who starve for a dream not their own." That seems pretty straightforward. The "traveling far across the sea" part though, sounds like Christianity. I think maybe he had some strange neighbors who didn't like him because of his hair. Very personal feel to it. Jim Morris said that Chuck would always default to the parallel fifth. Just to fatten up the line. The whole thing, especially the drums, is so progressive. I never met him, but everyone I met who did had great things to say about him. He accomplished so much in a short time. Musicians of the highest caliber respected him and wanted to work with him. I'm looking forward to watching more. I'm so glad I found your channel!

Thanks man! Cant believe i messed that up 😂 I do! I saw a comment on a video that said the guy believed that TSOP, the fragile art of exitstence and the follow up to it were intended to be a 3 part concept album. So i may look into that, but I also plan on deep diving on the songs. Cheers man!
