First movie of Harris Jayaraj as a standalone music director. But he was the sound producer, programmer, sound arranger for 600+ movies before his debut, but nobody knew this until he revealed this in 2019. Many hit songs in several Indian Languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu had him work behind the curtain, including the songs and background score of AR Rahman movies from 1994 to 2000. Now if you listen to those songs by other music directors you can identity Harris signature beats, mixing and arrangement. No surprise he won the Filmfare award for music director, for his debut movie Minnale, ending the continuous 9 year winning streak by AR Rahman.

I have a very distinct memory related to this song, sorry it is going to be a long story... When I was about 12, I went to Chennai apollo for treament, I had a surgery. After getting released from the hospital at night my dad could not find a good hotel for the night so we stayed in a shady hotel in a small alley. At night I was in bed, window was open and I heard a melodious tune which was coming from a house situated opposite our hotel window, I was blown away by the tune and subsequent song. Then I came back to West Bengal and forgot about it, since there was no internet at that time, there was no way of finding out about the song. So fast forward to few years, I was 16-17 when the hindi version of the movie came out with Zara zara being played in tv, I instantly felt I know this song and what surprises me the most is the fact that even when I just heard this song once in my life before, that too while highly medicated after surgery, I never forgot that tune. I am 32 now and still vividly remember that hotel window and the window next house with their curtains fluttering in wind and this song playing in their tv. So that was my story of this song. 🥰
