Great to see a Blair video, I've been waiting for this. Sad to see that his gun build is so much more effective than his skill builds, but I will keep using a skill build anyway because I love setting the world on fire. There are definitely some changes that could be made to his skills. For example his first skill should be ranged by default, and his fourth skill could use a much shorter casting time. At the risk of incurring your wrath, I would say that I feel like skill range is more important than skill duration for his skill builds (swap skill extension for skill expansion), but otherwise loved the vid.

As a fellow Blair enjoyer, I'm not sure how you argue range is more important than duration. My biggest issue with skill Blair is that the base range is terrible, but without extending duration, it's effectively impossible to maintain the max passive. I do my best to fit range and duration in, but duration definitely takes precedent.

@@ETyC45 PersonallY, I have had no trouble maintaining the passive at max stats. I basically rotate between Deadly Cuisine, Burnt Taste, and Extinguish. Sometimes I throw in the first skill if the cooldowns don't line up. Granted, I'm not using Truly Deadly Cuisine, which I suspect is where the trouble with maintaining stacks is.

That's an option but I cannot in good faith tell people to use that because the avg joe is gonna end up casting their 2 before throwing a meatball and cuck themselves out of the dimension buff because they just used a singular skill. It may sound silly but in the time it takes people to lay down flames the initial dimension buff is going to expire and then they'll case singular and be locked out of the cooldown for 5 seconds and have cast meatball in that time and at which point: what was the point. Multitalented can be a cool mod for those willing to manage it, but like Hailey's zenith use case I can't justify the use, but if you can then go for it.

Nice, a guide to help all 15 Blair players. Joking; but in all seriousness, I have him maxed, and I think he just needs some QoL, and a damage buff to be in a good spot. He needs a Freyna-level buff if he’s ever going to be able to hold up to the best DoT/Area Control Descendant, Freyna herself. I don’t see that ever happening though. Considering the next Descendant, Serena, is also going to be fire, I have a feeling that Blair is going to be like most of the male descendants; left in the dark. I find it funny how the poison character can nuke rooms and spread toxin to everything, yet the fire one can’t, despite fire being MUCH more spreadable and dangerous than toxin in reality.

I mean reality is one thing, but Freyna is throwing literal poison injections into mobs that causes spores to grow and stuff, while Blair just *burns* lol. Fire skills should be much more spreadable though.

I actually enjoyed building Blair as I did sterile land special Op close to Freyna rework time. Just spamming abilities over an area and hyuking fireballs every 5 seconds was fun

If a character gets constantly slowed down, there should be compensation in power. Best example is haileys her zenith roots her in place, and she'll get to do a ton of damage. Blair should get at minimum a boost to his base damage. There's also a the problem that he is a DoT character, so the devs have to be careful not to have a second freyna. Apparently, in the beta of the game, his flame zones also gave him defensive benefits so maybe that could work?

Why is everyone worried about a second Freyna? Half of the time when I get in on a squad with a Freyna, the Freyna throws a toxic spooge done right in front of herself & then proceeds to loose her shield & most of her red bar before another player takes charge of the battle. This is a PvE game & in my opinion, which obviously isn't everyone else's, we should be allowed to make our characters as strong as any Freyna/Hailey build. The biggest problem the average player has is their own skill set. There are heaps of build videos, people use them & still suck at using a particular descendant. Have to remember to build to your own play style. You can't just throw a bunch of mods together & instantly win. Good video, I have never built any descendant for using guns. I thought we were supposed to be super heroes. But, you are right. I can't make Blair an awesome fire mage, so I will try the gun build route. Just, why, we are supposed to be super human, not COD mercenaries.

I was leveling Blair recently and deadly cuisine has an animation that takes so long the enemies are either already dead due to teammates or they have walked right out of the way of where you were aiming it.

Blair is one of my mains. I love this dude. Very fun to play. That said, he is just too slow. Still effective, but slow. I didn't really think of making him gun descendant until this video, but we'll see. Personally, I find gun descendants boring (to each their own) but if this can make Blair a respectable bosser, I may try it. Blair is not meta, but again- very fun to play. I use TDC and just cook everything in 400% solo as I laugh like a maniac along Blair.

Man i learned alot from your videos, and here's build for hard dungeons, i don't use him for bosses but I have more than 300h on him because he was most fun to play and build wrong so many times lol First, focus on fire is biggest bait and only good for CD, better put iron def for damage. Dimension master is necessary for him to work, with focus on dimension, mp, nimble, multi, hp, and range we are left with skill concentration, emergency measures, and strike mod, i use fire integration, with crit and range on reactor. Frontlines is almost the same damage wise, better if you want other rolls in reactor. You've got 13.6 CD ult with multi, 100% crit rate, and bit less then 8m range on 1. Dot on lvl100 legion of darkness is around 100-115k per tick on his 1st. All the mobility problems are there, cast time for ult is horrendous, but damage isn't lacking. He definitely needs some QoL changes, but guy is just "built different".

You read my mind. I was looking for something different to play, dusted off Blair, and lo! A Vash Cowaii video on him! I have found the flamethrower useful for those 400% where the tunnel mobs jump you after you clear a big room that you can't see around to shoot. Just stand there cooking them until they're clear while you wait for your dog to finish having a nervous breakdown trying to collect everything in the room. Been playing Freyna. She's great when you have no time and want to get dailies done but the brain melt is real. Tried Esiemo. He felt like I was driving a big rig with bicycle handlebars no matter which version I tried. Tried Jayber. .... No. Tried Kyle. Really really tried. I think I know where every ceiling lump is now and any colossus with a gun arm will cancel your bombs. Dungeon bosses you're just praying they haven't waddle too far from where you memorized before waiting for the launch animation to complete. Guess if Blair washes out, I'll give Yunjin a try.

incendiary bomb + range blair is what i use for a mobbing build and i have lots of fun with it. i see your comment below explaining the lack of multitalented but that's what i use as well for skill bossing. overall, i understand your frustration with him because it took me way too many catalysts to enjoy playing him.

Blair is really a beginner descendant that's easy to get and cool on the surface he's got a flame thrower and a giant fire ball but his numbers just don't get big enough for anything in hard mode even if you look past the inconvenience to use his abilities.

Been playing him from the start and biggest gripes have always been animations timing/projectile speed, Base range, and his 4th cd and transcendental spm. Can't understand why his flamethrower has less range than his pools and ultimate when it's his "Ranged" combat option. Also the hit box of the flamethrower doesn't always feel consistent. People keep talking about making him like freyna and i absolutely would hate that. He needs another pass of adjustments for sure, However i'm not gonna stop playing him because meta say but bunny and freyna.....

You don't use overwhelming shield in deathstalker bc shields matter, you're using it on those guys because you have shield sustain, that's why enzo freyna even viessa get used bc they have continuous shield regen, it's not enough to simply build high shield if you can't upkeep it bc once its gone then you're still dead. Speed runs are a diff story but overwhelming shield isn't a one-size-fits-all problem solver and you seem to think and I wanna make sure you understand that

to be honest men, if they make blair into freyna but in fire, i will not have a problem because, he lacks damage and range, with TDC you can do some damage to the bosses but makes the gameplay really slow , because you now depend of blaze to have your passive, backdraft is the only way you can do bosses passing dead bride, the one that make you throw the fire is worse than awful, not only put away some range but have limit range in what you can throw it, and Classic C. its a way to win some range because you can use 3 of the crit mod with it, but the damage of his abilities need a buff, freyna,bunny not only outclass him in range but in damage to, even sharen that now can clean as fast as him in normal missions, he is the slowest cleaner in the game by far.

(My only problem is he does feel slow) Mean while i went crazy with him and gotten the most compliments playing as him since my ad clear build is great. He's the only one and been complimented like 4 or 5 times on (no im noy full of shit im not joking it catches me off guard every time) no other character probably because no one sees a good blair. Long distance graple is awesome with it since i use it and cast anything while flying everywhere. Classic chef for easy ad clear to like 5 to 11 flame zones ussaly sometimes way more but hard

I hate the delay in casting and make the zones cast in front at least, not center on him. Sometimes you're near death just running up to the enemy to cast. They made his skill execution dumb AF. A Blair sighting is very rare. No one is using him nexon!

more evidence of my internal thought of supply moisture being the most overrated red mod in the game. it stinks for valbys skills and it is outshined by every other gun build. i think if you looked at blairs kit for his skill build on paper you see how it can work well. but in practice the animation times just ruin everything. his 1 should be sped up to the point where by the time you press the button, the fire needs to be on the ground and you can place another zone. i want 5 zones down in like 2 secs max. his 4 is similar, you throw a meatball at an enemy and your co op team mates have already used their hard hitting skill and killed it. at 4:37 you cast his 4 and it takes three fucking seconds to hit a boss that is like 15 meters in front of you. everything is just too slow in his kit.

Blair is one of my top 3 favorite characters to play. Unfortunately, he’s a male character, and in this game, male characters often feel like an afterthought. The developers seem more focused on making female characters stand out (jiggle physics 🙄). It’s frustrating that they don’t strive for a balanced representation. After spending 1,000 hours on this game, that imbalance really annoys me.
