Dear Buff-Daddy. Lol! Brittany, just a suggestion for a possible future organization video. One of the major problems i have is paperwork. Paperwork. Paperwork. Boxes of it! You’d think in this day and age there wouldn’t be so much but it actually seems worse. What to throw out? What to keep? How long to keep it? How to dispose of things. Not everything has personal information but usually addresses are on every single piece. I would love an updated video on what to keep and what to dispose of (and safely). Thank you in advance for reading this. Thank Ryan for that intro. Needed the laugh and he’s just so cute.

This is also an issue for me. The Fly Lady system addresses this. It suggests you put ALL your paperwork in one box (or boxes together if you have that much) and organize an inch a day. Three categories to organize it into are: file away, throw away/shred, “action” (like pay a bill, respond to something, etc.). If you are systematically unorganized like I am, it doesn’t help to get it done fast since it will just get messy again in the near future, so it helps to take your time and actually develop a helpful system. An inch a day is doable and will go a lot faster than you think. If you have two feet of paperwork, that takes less than a month to go through. Setting a timer for 15 minutes helps as well. Good luck!

Great tips, especially the dishes. I don't have a dishwasher, so everything is done by me. As soon as a meal is over I do the dishes, 95% of the time. I am struggling with the sentimental items. We moved my dad from Fl to our home to take care of him. His house was 2500 sq feet and we had to get rid of a ton of things. However, he insisted on bringing some items to our home which we were ok with. Fast forward 6 years. My dad past away this year and now I want to get rid of some things but just can't bring myself to do it. I keep thinking I will regret it. I have taken pics of certain items and discarded some things that were tattered but what do you do with boxes and boxes of VHS home movies? Too time consuming to go through them and the quality of them is very poor. Plus other items. I am stuck. PS. I have been using the purse compartments for years and find it very handy. Thank you! ❤️
@lazulin6 жыл бұрын
With those VHS tapes, you want to digitize them. That'll preserve them (rather than causing further deterioration) and let you get rid of those boxes. It'll take a long time so I understand your reluctance, but you just methodically do one after the other until you finish them all.

The junk drawer! When I was a kid we had 2, open it and it was just junk and a mess. Now I have my own home I have 1 and I have dividers in it. It's not super organized but it's not overflowing with crap. I open it and can easily see something and grab what I need. I also do the donating box thing, it's mostly for my clothes. I have a bin in my closet, I throw things in it and when it's full I throw it in a bag and donate it. I do struggle with my surfaces, my hubby and I moved and we have a larger house but not enough storage. We don't have a lot of furniture so my surfaces end up cluttered. It's frustrating for me, my hubby doesn't care as much but it annoys me haha. I like the sentimental items box, I have to do that, I end up keeping too much because I feel bad throwing away a card someone gave me.
