The manor has sat in the shady part of the valley abandoned for generations. The spider having escaped her abyssal prison is now seeking to return to her terrible glory, while the skeletal guards of this estate continue to stir in the darkness.
The paladin has come to the manor, seeking atonement from the gods he must destroy the spider.

Vast takes you and your friends on an adventure in a haunted house, built on total asymmetry. There is no merry band of travelers here fighting evil. In Vast you take control of any part of the story.
Play as the pious Paladin, the murderous Skeletons, the awesome Spider, or the Manor itself. In addition, there is the Enchanter, come to this world to rule the minds of the others. Each role has its own powers, pieces, and paths to victory...and there can be only one winner.

The Paladin succeeded in fading his terrible enemy the Spider, however, in the process he was caught between the deceptive passages of the Mansion, fighting against undead enemies until they fell apart, but at the same time the Mansion corrupted his essence; Years have passed, his skeletal body longing for revenge against his captor, and by taking the arm of one of his fallen enemies the Shadow Paladin will fight against the chains that imprison him, which transcend time and space, so it is possible that in his fight he finds himself and his former adversaries once more again.

Wow, this series is exceptional. you folx are superb at breaking down an incredibly complex game, and still manage to keep it light and entertaining. The shadow paladia somehow feels like the easier red character available, as its a bit less multi dimensional than the giant spider of the original set, I might suggest my players to take this in the spider's stead, at least for the first couple of plays.

The rule book say: "In games with the either the Paladin or the Skeletons, the Shadow Paladin begins with 5 ruin cubes"; you always get this or is a special setting?

That is only in those situations - if you have the Paladin or Skeletons in the game you get the bonus.

I think you are right - we didn’t always check walls when laying tiles down for a quick example - I’ll rewatch to double check but a wall would block / prevent an attack.
