I have a friend that this happened to also, he was running too close to a moving railway train coming towards him and the speed of the train pulled him underneath the train, as very many train cars followed behind, running over both his legs from the knees down. His gf pulled him away from the tracks and tied her shirt and belt around each leg to slow the bleeding. He survived but is blind from the loss of blood and of course has severe ptsd, but he got prosthetics and still loves to sing and play death metal music 🎶 and he's a really sweet person who appreciates his life now more than ever bc before the accident, he was suicidal and an addict/alcoholic

Every time I hear about disabled people there getting a hard time, being stared at or spoken about it jars me. I’m disabled, here in the uk people tend to be kind & helpful. I have sudden blackouts, every time I’ve done it outside people are rushed to help me, a man drove right down the street in the opposite way to his work because he saw me fall. His parents did a good job with him. He offered to take me to hospital. In shops people ask if you need help. When I have to use a wheelchair people will pass & ask if you need anything passing. I never feel like I’m stared at, sometimes people will ask what I have. But I see that as education, maybe someone they know might have the same but not diagnosed. I used to teach and on the most part children weren’t bullied, it’s normal here for disabled children to attend school with the other children. We do have schools for very disabled children, the ones who need a lot of care & personal care. Being in a classroom hearing about the different types of triangles just isn’t useful to them. They need to be with teachers who know their needs, staff who do their physiotherapy etc. When I was a child if people had a prosthetic limb they weren’t very useful, you could just tell by someone’s walking gait. But now, the advances in science have made it so much better. 1 thing I really like to see is someone with a prosthetic leg walking around in shorts, the metal of the prosthesis right there in the open. No one paying them any attention 😀
