this is a good breakdown I had figured out and used the stepping with the cross mentioned first but the 1-2 fient hook to create an angle was one I hadn't picked up on and I like that a lot. the bend thing is great to because if they don't mirror the bend instead of gaining the angle he puts a straight left to the solar plexus, it creates a win win situation!

There's one thing he does a lot which leads to different variations. Loma keeps his lead foot inside the opponent's, which is inviting a right cross. Expecting this, Loma slips the cross to his inside and counters with his left cross. He does this regularly.

@Bruce Wayne I use my head movement and jab to keep the opponent busy. Usually I allow them to get me to the ropes and counter off their shots. I'm southpaw... so he throws a left to body I catch with arm and shoot right upper to body or head and /or body then head. You're going to get counterd at time but make sure you can see his shots coming... don't curl up and blind your vision too much.... keep working champ!!

The T position is essential I like to draw in my opponents lead and outside slip with a cross to the body and then a corkscrew uppercut with the lead so that my stance is reset I always end every combo with a lead Instead of stepping into the T position, I just kind of shimmy my feet after a cross so that I'm standing straight to my opponent in the T position so I can alternate between southpaw and orthodox , that way each punch is a cross I was a pro and have been boxing for 35 years

Hey Johnny. I was considering purchasing your footwork series. Think dancing footwork can get me footwork like Lomachenko?
@expertboxing7 жыл бұрын
Lomachenko's been doing it for a long long time and does credit his footwork to the dance training his father put him in early on. While you would need than just my program to be as good as Loma, my program can certainly help improve your body awareness beyond the usual type of boxing footwork programs out there and give you a jump start on that path.

Everytime i throw a combo should i allway move in angles ? which is better long combos or short because when throwing long combos arent you open for a counter
@expertboxing7 жыл бұрын
Anytime you sit in a place for a long time, you're open to a counter. And you're more open when throwing punches than when you're not. Should you ALWAYS move in angles? Errr...I think have awareness is more important than just automatic movement. Sometimes you move straight, other times you use an angle. Sometimes slight angles, other times hard angles. Mix it up.

He's actually a former US marine team tae kwon do. Not even a boxer, but he was available that day so I had no choice.
@bxrbarian30406 жыл бұрын
This is a great analysis of his style but its worth mentioning that you have not acknowledged that he is a converted southpaw which makes his style so much stronger. The reason being that once he pivots outside, unlike in your video, he shoots his lead hand which is his dominant and can be so devastating when you cant see somebody's dominant hand coming because its behind your shoulder.
@expertboxing6 жыл бұрын
I don't agree with your statements...that's why I didn't say them. :)
@bxrbarian30406 жыл бұрын
@@expertboxing Its a fact that he is a converted southpaw.. his right hand is his strong hand, hence why when he fights southpaws he looks so comfortable, because he still holds an arguable stance advantage. He was converted to a southpaw as a child by his father, and then sent to learn to dance. All specifically to manufacture the skill that i described in my comment, So you can disagree, but it just discredits your 'expert' status when you are disagreeing with a known fact about him....

that "pivot" is called a cuban shuffle or a bump you dont pivot its kindve a mix between a gazelle and a pivot but your feet have to barely come off the ground so basically you lift your feet off the ground and at the same time you turn your entire body on the same place into your stance except not at an angle but directly beside the person
