How about the same time right jab(simultaneous slip) as your opponent throws? Similar to how the jab is countered simultaneously by the backhand left/right in open stance match-ups (but used opposite); in close stance matchups you'd counter jabs simultaneously with a jab.

I fight amateur southpaw, the southpaw crosscounter demonstrated here is a great counter if you drill it a lot first. The southpaw stays out of danger with this technique for two reasons: 1) he times the orthodox right and slides to the left of it 2) he takes a Pernell Whitaker-style half-step back and to the left, in order to get out of the line of the orthodox cross, then he delivers his own (left) cross. Drilling practice, good timing, and a good long jab will set up this shot and keep the southpaw safe.

@@CALIFORNIAsGAMER Safety is important but Pernell Whitaker, Guillermo Rigondeaux, and even Oleksandr Usyk are southpaws who frequently circle to their left but stay safe. Moving away from an orthodox power hand is a good rule, but it is a beginner rule and southpaws quickly learn other techniques to move left when they need to.

It's kind of hard to replicate as an orthodox vs orthodox matchup. The main thing I can think of is slipping to the outside (left) while simultaneously throwing an overhand/straight right hand. The angling/positioning isn't as optimal as if you were a southpaw countering a cross.
