The more you know about John, the more you love him. He is still a little boy seeking love and approval from everyone. He has no idea how incredible and admirable he is and has always been. They don't come any more special than John Cowsill. God Bless Him & His Family...

For some reason John has always been my favorite out of all the Cowsills. Back in the sixties he was always upbeat and had that impish, boyish charm performing in the group. It was great to hear John's candid, honest, heart on his sleeve explanation on how his life is going now. Love the Cowsills forever.

I know this is really an ad, but John Cowsill is fascinating, and super likable, and talented, and played with two enormous bands, and I ate up every second of it. The advertiser did this brilliantly, because John really is a great asset for selling, and there's nothing wrong with that, in fact, its very American. I thought it was funny, when he said he was intimidated by "famous people." Dude, you've played on Ed Sullivan. And you're John Cowsill. We know who you are. God Bless you and your family.

John Cowsill is so awesome. We are the same age a couple days apart. He's a true pisces, just like I am. We carry the same traits. I have always found him to be open and honest to a fault. John is creative and imaganitive and sympathetic towards others. I am not a fan of The Beach Boys but I would go just to see someone I have loved him since I was 7. His pictires adorned my bedroom walls, from 16 mag and Tiger Beat and a few others. It freaked me out when they just vanished from tv and music. Its all good, now I have new and old Cowsill music. And a couple Action Skull songs I love. Take care of yourself John. Don't forget we never forgot you. So glad your back. P.S. So sorry about Barry and Billy R.I.P. 🙏🏻❤✝ 🎸 🎼

Loved these guys when I was a kid and it's very cool to see they are still performing in various lineups and bands. Very, very sad about Billy and Barry - such a loss of natural talent. And here is John who is refreshingly candid and down to earth. Enjoyed this video, John was a doll when he was a kid and he still has that sweet charm and those endearing qualities. As a drummer for 52 years, I love listening to these old school drummers who, like me, just keep on playiing. I too, wrote an article for Modern Drummer magazine in 1986 from an interview I conducted with Jimmy Nicol, an England session drummer who actually played 12 dates AS a Beatle while Ringo was in the hospital in 1964. (Austrailian leg of the tour) He has a remarkleable story of which I've put together a screenplay entitled THE EYE OF A BEATLE. I might one day put it all down in book form. Keep drumming John Boy. You've lived the gig of a lifetime.

Very interesting to know before he became the Beach Boys drummer they were performing their songs live in a different arrangement than they are now. I always knew something was not right about the live arrangements over the years. It's great to hear all those classic songs sounding like the album again. Mike Kowalski didn't play the songs anywhere close to the original!!!

The best video!! I loved them all , but of all the Cowsill boys John was always my favorite. The John if you read these comments , you wouldn`t remember me but when you were in Vegas, your sister stayed at Maureen`s house on Ottowa St.,behind the Boulevard Mall and went to school at William E Orr temporarily. As I remember I was there one day when you picked her up. We were all so shy we didn`t speak but just stared lol as Maureen introduced everyone. It was exciting to have celebs at our friends house. We had other celebs living on our street, Sonny Liston, The Ink Spots, and other musicians and DJ`s like Lark Williams, but not kids our own age :) I will never forget that day , I was spell bound lol Unfortunately , never got to see the show, we only found out about it the day before it was over...darn. Never knew you were in the Beach Boys till today!! Wow , great gig in the sky!!

Spoiler alert: John got the gig for the 50th Anniversary reunion tour and sounded awesome. He does not give himself enough credit for rocking the band the way he does with his great back beat and feel. He thumps the heck out of Good Vibrations and really drives the rest of their incredible catalog. It's so great to still see him with the Beach Boys today 20 years later after all he's been through with the Cowsills and their sad behind the scenes drama and loss of his brothers. Still doin' it and sounding rad as always!

John has the remarkable gift of avoiding the drama in the bands he's been in - bands that are RENOWNED for the drama being front and center. That's just the kind of guy he is - easygoing, finding the calm in whatever storm he happens to find himself in. Would love to meet him some day. Not going to happen, I'm sure, but if my kid ever were to decide she wanted to take a stab at making music (or any performing art for a living, for that matter), I'd point her at John Cowsill as a good reference point for staying sane in a clearly insane and dysfunctional environment.

John, I laughed at your story of shaking "Mr. Cassidy's" hand at the hotel, greeting him, and having nothing further to say. I once rode in an elevator alone with MLB pitcher Nolan Ryan. Was I nervous. I turned around to him, looked him up and down from head to toe, and said, "So you're Nolan Ryan?". John, you and Karen Carpenter (Drummer, Lead Vocalist -- Carpenters 1969-1983) share the same birthday March 2nd. Both you and Karen are my favorite 2 drummers. You even played in New Haven, CT where Karen and Richard Carpenter were born and raised before moving out to Los Angeles (Downey, CA) when they were teens.
