He said we need to understand the meaning behind what President Trump said. The Pope also said we need to assist, not that he said we need to let everyone (migrants) IN to any country, there's a difference between the two. Humility and intelligence are important factors in judging each and every sentence delivered. Pope Francis went too far, saying that to speak only of walls is not Christian, and that if Trump speaks this way he is not a Christian. Well, Trump has have never spoken only of walls. He supports legal immigration and always has. The Pope is wrong here and should apologize.

Traditions and doctrines. Catholic doctrine was decided at the council of Nicaea when the emperor Constantine convened church leaders to decide which biblical texts and traditions would be used in the future. Therefore, Catholic doctrine and tradition are as much a man made construct as they are religious. Constantine, like the politicians of today, realized that religious teachings were a good way to consolidate power and control the masses. Jesus left two basic commandments. Love God above all else and love your neighbor as yourself. He didn't say that people should love those who look like, worship like them or live like them.
