Sad to see the old Surfliner units on Metra lines now :(

Why have them on for so long? I would assume there's a snow sensor(s) to determine heavy snow from a light drizzle.

It's the passenger car at 0:56 rare?

I'd say somewhat. On Metra, those Pullman Gallery cars are the oldest in the fleet, and would be the first to be replaced whenever new cars come. They aren't used on all lines and only appear in longer consists where extra capacity is needed. I personally don't like how worn they are inside, some of the windows are fogged up so much you can barely see out of them. Metra has already sold many of them to other railroads, like VRE, MARC, and Nashville's Music City Star service, but then actually bought some back in the last couple years because they were short on cars.

Why was their fire on the tracks?
@amtrak_1219 ай бұрын
They're on the switches. They purposely light them on fire to keep switches from freezing up.

I've been wanting to go up to the North Side to see that for myself. What is the warmest (I know not warm at all, LOL) that they usually set the flames to the switches?

Some locomotives have like…rotating headlights? Not switching like some others but they spin, the topmost one.

Yep, it's called a Gyralight. It's just another type a visual warning light for safety.
