I lived there in 1998 to 2003 or so. I went back to see the building I lived in a few years ago and it was surrounded by a cinder block wall with razor wire on top (no kidding) because there was an encampment of junkies kitty corner to the building. Vancouver is a joke now, and Victoria is getting there very quickly. This is what happens when you let the inmates run the asylum.

Nothing to do with Trudeau, either of them. This has much more to do with years of belt tightening governments who cut services to mental health, education and social safety supports. The addicts and ruffians in the street are one time kids who fell through the cracks while right and center right governments were busy towing the bottom line financially while ignoring the obvious problem they were creating by pulling the social safety net from beneath people's feet.
