What a treat this was! Seeing the gear a band you like use is always fun, like how a magician do their tricks. And fun to see a MS2000, my first synth, but hardly ever use it anymore. But some great tips here for it, might have to try it out :-)

First heard mesh when they were featured on a CD which came with a magazine back in the 90s ... one of the tracks on the CD was called Gravestone.. think it won demo of the month

It's wishful thinking I am sure but making things easier has a flip side. The music of old sounded the way it did because of the way you had to do stuff. I don't miss those days in a sense but less is more and we have too much choice today!

I would also like to see a video about De/vision, if you know them, in my opinion the best electronic band in the world, they sound more Depeche than Depeche mode 😀 perfect band, fantastic melodies, vocals, synths, everything - they tour with Mesh ftom time to time

Vaughn, on 17th minute we can see some Yamaha, Korg TR-Rack stuff etc. Can you explain, how it's called, what are these things doing, and why musicians use them?
@VaughnGeorge5 жыл бұрын
The Yamaha Tone generator and the Tr Rack are basically rack mounted synthesisers. In otherwords, "Synthesizers in a box" without keyboards. You connect a controller keyboard to them in order to play the sounds. VG:-)
@grimlund5 жыл бұрын
A question here. I use a workstation with a built in sequenser when I making music. But how does it works for this guy when its time for the producers to mix down his recordings? Does he sample all the songs and send a file to their studio? And how does the producers work on this thing? Do they hav to have similar software tools? Cubase in this case.
@VaughnGeorge5 жыл бұрын
The finished mixes are bounced down into wav files. Rich then sits with a mix engineer to complete the final mixes. VG:-)
@grimlund5 жыл бұрын
@@VaughnGeorge Ok. So the whole mix is allmost done by Rich him self. And then there are just a few minor changes and mastering that the engineer do?

The Emax II was released as early as in 1989, but it was the Emu sampler from the 80:s that you least of all would want to own since it didn't have analogue filters (not counting the Emulator 1 dinosaur). Not that it is bad, but there's something very special with a sampler that has analogue filters that are as good as the ones in the EMU:S. The one that Alan Wilder is famously showing off his "liveset 101" sounds on in 1988, is the original Emax. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGm3iZ2ejKiEhqc But they probably used the Emax II on, at least, Violator. On the other hand, Wilder used his old Emulator 2 on his recoil albums...
