Gene Simmons got me started on bass. HAD to learn Black Diamond. But it didn't take long for me to get into Stanley. He was my man for a long time. I liked Jaco, but Stanley still inspires me.

I've met Stanley a few times at clubs over the years since 1989. He is THE most influential bass player of all time. He took the bass to the masses as a lead instrument.

Stanley's playing some complicated yet still very melodic bass lines all the while managing to make it seem effortless. A great and classy bass player.

What a great musician. I bought all the RTF and Stanley's albums back in the 70's and 80's - was amazed by his playing.

Ultimate. Stanley’s a better player than anyone you can name. He’s a way better player than Jaco ever was.

He must have very thin gauge strings on his bass

His Alembic Series 1 is a short scale. It's like 30.75" scale length where as a Fender Jazz is a 34". Plus, he's playing his Tenor Bass which is tuned ADGC. The Alembic short scale basses play real nice. So, yes he does use light gauge strings.

Compare with the guitar players that Stanley worked with, Ronnie Wood should stop playing guitar for sure.
