I wouldn't mind a video on what the non combatants do in the empire. Are they breeders? Manufacturers? I've always wondered what the civilians actually do.
@MrKogline7 жыл бұрын
The same as non combatants do in our society. However being in constant war you have a large portion to manufacturing and food production instead of civilian goods. Honestly, if you read up on the experiences of the population of wwII you will get a pretty good idea of overall conditions and expectations because that was almost a total war for many countries. Given the vastness of the galaxy you can always find drastic and extreme examples as well. Taste of War: World War II and the Battle for Food by Lizzie Collingham was a really good book about it.

Yeah i always wanted more from GW about the every day life in the universe of WH40k. I would love to know more things beyond war that can't be a tabletop game(Necromunda). Unfortunately there is no monetary value to expand into that so we won't have it in my opinion.Still i would love to see the life of people that believe the Space Marines are a legend (Reminder how few and rare they should be like angel sent from the God Emperor) and only seen people trained to be guardsmen to fight scary aliens that they've only seen in illegal documents (since they live sheltered by the impirium laws).The best we've got is other franchises that influence or could had been placed in WH like Judge Dredd,Alien,Event Horizon,Star Troopers movies and more.....(also the logs in Space Marine game had some things about civilian life) Fuck i want a Rogue Trader series with a gang of human,eldar and other minor and major species going on random adventures in the WH40k universe

Alright! As much as I'm an Imperial Guard in spirit and at heart, I've never doubted nor have I wavered in my belief in the God Emperor of Mankind. But Throne of Terra preserve me, I feel the bile in the back of throat of some major heresy about to go down. I know someone's got a bolt pistol aimed to the back of my skull for even daring to suggest this (I.E the Commissar) yet it seems facts cannot overrule faith when it's clearly about to inflict reality's ability to remain remotely stable. Let's do a small list of exactly what the fuck is about to kick down the Imperium's front door...literally. (1.) Latest Hive Fleet of Tyranids is literally the main bulk, previous incursions were just 'scout' fleets. And Leviathan's tendrils are how many light years from Holy Terra and what's even remotely needed to 'stop' said Tendrils is mobilizing every fecking Emperor forsaken man, woman and child within said Sectorum to get a slim chance. Note the slim, as in that's all the Inquisition can foresee and they don't fuck around... (2.) Chaos's latest and most possibly 'noteworthy' Crusade with the Fall of Cadia. Cadia of all places is but dust! The place where the Guard is both the Heart and Soul, it's gone...billions of Cadians just up and vaporized. Now, I only see two or three regiments stepping up to literally become the next central ideal for the Guard. Death Korps of Krieg, Meridian Iron Guard or possibly some other, but the pickings are very, very, very grim. And let's not forget that Chaos is infinitely spawning and corrupting everything with a soul inside the Imperium's infrastructure. (3.) The Biggest 'WAAAAAGH' in history, known history is coming to a full on steam roll. Let's face it, if The Warboss of Boss Orkz unites more and more clans to his 'WAAAAGH'? I doubt Commissar Yarrick is going to stall his 'beztezt enemy' anytime soon and I doubt the Steel legion is going to hold on against those fucking numbers. So Orkz...another big wave upon wave and Leviathan is gouging itself on Orknoid DNA via the actions of a 'Inquisitor' who deserves to get his fucking face caved in by a choppa! (4.) And now the Necrons with their 'Great Awakening' who absolutely refuse to die. Advanced Tech, impervious to common small arms and basically fuck all to whatever, oh and the Tomb Worlds which are awakening on multiple fronts within the Imperium's borders. So how much fire power between all these problems above this is going to needed? Manpower isn't the problem, it's the actual firepower that's required.... Conclusion: If this ain't the God Emperor End Times, then GW needs to understand what the fuck is the Imperium going to do against all this? I know I'm missing quite a few things (Eldar/Dark Eldar/Rebels) etc. But honestly this is all the 'BIG" problems I see at first glance! Holy Terra with all these fucking problems, I think that Mankind needs to...(I'm swallowing the bile of disgust)...extend a 'hand' to possibly Eldar, or willing to any Craftworlds to focus on a *few* common enemies. And no, I will say it whole kindheartedly with extreme prejudiced: fuck Tau, they can burn! All because they're useless and utterly insignificant to what's about to kick the Galaxy's teeth in!

Typical mon'keigh... "All hope is lost! Repent, for The End has come!" The curtain may fall on one story, only to rise on another. Your Corpse-Emperor and my Laughing God have common enemies, my friend... and as needs must, that makes us allies. Though the ways of the Laughing God are seen by your kind as "decadent..." HA! What know you of decadence, stripling? Was YOUR decadence ever powerful enough to be anything more than an amuse-bouche to She Who Thirsts? My kind BIRTHED her, mon'keigh. It is a tale I will always tell with a heavy heart... but Cegorach willing, we will see her downfall and laugh while she starves herself out of existence. That goes double for The Grand Schemer, The Plaguefather AND that angry wall of meat who despises She Who Thirsts. The Necrons? An ancient enemy, but not an insurmountable one. Tyranids? Need I remind you Hive Fleet Behemoth shattered her teeth on your mighty world of Macragge, home of those blue-armored senator-warriors who can't seem to fail at anything? Orks... leave them to their own devices, and they'll be back to fighting each other before Gork and Mork even realize that Cegorach has tricked them. AGAIN. Patience, my young friends... the final act is not yet upon us. The Great Work continues apace, and your beloved Imperium will yet survive to vex my Craftworld and Commorite kin.

I never noticed how much the modern eldar lore closely follows that of the necrons. Losing war they turn to a god like being who "saves" their souls and enters them into living contracts of wraith bone ? doesn’t that sounds very close to the ctan eating the necron souls and encasing them in living metal ?

Old Ones had Magitek, Necrons have Pure Tech Both sides have enough firepower to turn the Milky Way Galaxy into a graveyard (Which they did) Considering how powerful their magic and technology is, the War in Heaven probably killed over an Octillion of people (10 to the 27th POWER!) Makes all the other wars kinda meek in comparison AND THAT WAS JUST THE FIRST PHASE OF THE WAR IN HEAVEN!

I miss the old fluff. C'tan shouldn't be pokemon.
@boatcaptain62887 жыл бұрын
Where could I read the old fluff??
@hanng12427 жыл бұрын
It changed in 5th Edition. If you can find an old 3rd Edition Necron codex, the fluff can be found in there. Also, the Necrons in Dawn of War I were the old Necrons. "Nightbringer" by Graham McNeill was also written under the old fluff (unless it got modified and retconned with the re-release). There was an in-universe art/story book that goes for a first-born male child on E-bay entitled "Xenology" by Simon Spurier that is related to the old fluff as well. I think 1d4chan or Lexicanum might also have articles on the old fluff. In summary, the old fluff was that there were the Necrontyr, who were short-lived and bitter and fought against the Old Ones because the latter wouldn't share with them the secret of longer life. Then, the Necrontyr found the C'tan and gave them bodies of living metal. The C'tan then developed a taste for souls over stars, and convinced the Necrontyr that in exchange for their souls, they would biotransfer them into metal bodies to defeat the Old Ones, which the Necrontyr did. The C'tan/Necrons then beat back the Old Ones. Around this time, the C'tan known as the Deceiver convinced the C'tan known as the Nightbringer that devouring the lives of other C'tan was even better tasting than eating regular beings (for the lulz, I guess?), and so the C'tan started eating each other until there were only 4 left (the Deceiver, the Nightbringer, the Outsider and the Dragon). They reached a sort of truce and went back to eating regular life until they realized that they had overindulged and would eventually run out and starve (because going back to stars was not an option?), so they decided to be conservationists and hibernate for 60 million years to allow life to replenish. Throughout all this, the Necrons themselves were servants of the C'tan who did what they did out of a combination of hating all life and not having a choice. Flayed Ones were not cursed - they were deliberately designed terror troops. The C'tan were not "shards" captured and weaponized by the Necrons, they were more like Chaos Gods. There was no Silent King. There were some troops called "Pariahs" which were some sort of Necron-human hybrid created to exploit the pariah gene to fight against psykers (the manifestation of Chaos). The awakening Necrons were unified, monolithic, and a serious, existential threat to all life in the galaxy rather than a bunch of infighting robot Egyptians with varying levels of sleep-induced insanity. The old fluff made the Necrons a threat of absolute material stasis sort of parallel to the immaterial threat of Chaos or the organic threat of the Tyrannids. The old Necrons also never became BFF's with the Blood Angels.
@boatcaptain62887 жыл бұрын
Cool. I really enjoy the enemies in 40k like the Necron, Tyranids and Chaos because whenever I think about what sort of unmentionable terrors may lie in the deepest parts of the universe, that's what I picture.
