Compared even to the primarchs and most Astartes chapter master the emperor is a naive child, he liked to act mature but clearly wasn't, kidnapping angron, essentially traumatising lorgar, stole mortarians life goal, refused to do anything for the thousand sons and basically went my house my rules on magnus regarding psykic powers, put horus in a position he really wasn't suited for (warmaster, horus even states sanguinius would have been the better choice), basically ignored cruze's problems, misused perturabo and didn't appreciate him enough.

@@some_shitposting_idiot3023 What the god emperor was, was a human machine. He couldn't understand human emotions, sure, he could pretend and act, and he clearly had a driven goal. But he couldn't comprehend the emotional effects of his actions. To him, reality is nothing but logic. He understood that to appeal to people and works, he had to apply certain emotions to certain actions, but even then, it was to keep up his goals for humanity. He is less naive, and more a being that doesn't truly understand the concept of emotions. A subtle thing, but I love how manipulative the inquistor in the opening story is with the psyker. This is beautiful. Probably the best retelling I've ever heard, and with such a great narrator voice. The only lore mistake I noticed was the homeworld thing (it was to the fringes of the galaxy, not the homeworld they were pushed back, which is why they look like a ring on the map and had so many troops yet remaining), and for a 50 minute video one minor mistake is great. I'm so glad I found this channel, and really wish it was more subscribed to.

Hmmm. We need to discuss that, as you seem to know a lot more than I do! (which I always concede is my Weakness. I am never able to match an old hand at their specific lore because I dabble everywhere. Its so huge) Aza garod was contacted and my sources state it was he who was eating their home world sun, which lead to their mutation and horrific life of pain and misery. If Aza garod was not above their homeworld, then how were they mutated? If he was and they retreated to the outskirts of the galaxy - which I was convinced was where their homeworld was situated - then how did they contact him while being hemmed in by the cosmic toads? Not a challenge, a genuine request for enlightenment. :) I look forward to this discussion like few I have done in months. :) It will be great to throw it around with someone who knows more than I do. :)
@nemesorofthokt27554 жыл бұрын
@@Baldermort Yeah, one of the great things about 40k is there is just so much lore, but as a consequence its impossible to really know more than one faction well. Its a lot easier with the crons though because we have more or less no novels. Anyways, on Kaelis Ra, the lore is never concrete on the matter of who is first or where, but that bit is as far as I know correct. The necrons rolled a 1 on a d100 and got death for a star leech. This, being lovecraftian, was something no amount of science could fix, and stayed with them. They then ran into the old ones and rolled another one being the only faction unable to get FTL, which meant all the old ones could fight each individual group and world while the crons were perpetually late to everything. They fought damned hard, and lasted astonishingly long (centuries) given they were fighting a species that made the eldar look like children WITHOUT FTL, but in the end logistics as always decided everything. Which kind of makes me wonder how they could function and swap goods, probably just small scale with eternity gates or something similar. Anyways, here is the error. You say they were pushed back to the homeworld, where the codexes state they were pushed back to "Isolated and forgotten worlds" not one planet. After that came that huge mess with the C'tan which is purposely vague and then the stuff in your next video (which I haven't seen yet). There were some other errors, like with Szarekh who could in fact feel as much as a normal person could (which really tore at him and lead to his self exile, as he naturally felt really really bad about his mistakes), but I didn't mention that because that info came out long after your video (this month in the WD 450, its really important for necron fans) and I actually hadn't heard anything about pre-old one encounters with xenos, but that was the only thing that stood out. Back to the nightbringer though, the necron homeworld is stated to be in the halo stars, which is also where they were pushed back to in 3e, though the halo stars mention is removed in later editions (5e onwards). The homeworld should still be somewhere in segmentum obscurus though, as the Atun Dynasty is said to rule the northern rim of the galaxy, which the codex then mentions as the birthplace of the necrontyr. So basically look at the galaxy map and find the Atun, its somewhere over there, which may retcon the halo stars bit. Anyways, always happy to chat about necrons. Feel free to ask me anything anytime, though naturally I make just as many mistakes and sometimes just say things that are questionable due to the way 40k lore often contradicts itself.

After seeing the 40k short films that were made by the Astartes creator and who I hope Games Workshop gives him a 40k animated movie to direct someday. An idea occurred to me. I started watching the Witcher Netflix series and my response to it has been Meh. I'm coming to think that maybe the best possible option for success for fantasy movies and tv shows should not be live-action, but animated. If the Astartes creator can make a Warhammer 40k animation that sucked me into that universe in less than two minutes imagine what animation can do for other fantasy books and rpgs. With animation, you don't have to worry about the laws of physics endangering your cast and the budgets would nowhere be as expensive as those half a billion-dollar budgeted marvel movies. So why not take the chance. Imagine a Warhammer Fantasy animated movie that tells about the tales of Malus Darkblade. Or how about a Conan the Barbarian animated series that is drawn and animated to look exactly like those Frank Frazetta paintings coming to life. Or imagine when George RR Martin finally finishes his song of Ice and Fire series. Imagine an animated adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire where you get to see larger battles, more lore, giant ice spiders, and what the Iron Throne really looks like in the books. I really think the film business should strongly consider Animation as a better alternative instead of having Actors stand in front of a green screen. Hopefully, that will come true someday.

Truly, in terms of power in the 40k universe, the Necrons in the current timeline should be nigh unchallenged. Orks and Eldar may exist but are shadows of their strength during the War in Heaven, so the only challenge that can truly fight the united Necron race is the Tyranids. Though given a long enough war, the Orks might return to their Krork forms, though by this point the galaxy may already be under the rule of the Dynasties.

Szarekh is one of the most interesting head figures in Warhammer 40k. Morally he is a very complex character. Whereas other heads of factions could be qualified as good people in terrible situations, such as Guilliman or Farsight, while others are definitely just evil people doing evil for the evulz, such as Vect or Abaddon. Szarekh is in a weird spot that leaves much of his morality up for interpretation depending on how you see his actions. Szarekh's actions have both been tremendously evil, such as what he did to his own people turning them into Necrons (though in fairness, he didn't know all the details of the deal), but also tremendously good, such as killing the C'tan and freeing his people from his own grip (like a certain someone also said he would do once humanity had evolved enough). Not only did he forsake power, but also out of guilt he left the galaxy. This does show some character development, more than most 40k characters get. Then we don't know what he had been doing for 60 million years, it should be interesting to know what other galaxies think about the Silent King. All we do know is that Szarekh came back, not just to save his people from the Tyranids, but to save most of the sentient life in the galaxy. And here is where motivation becomes extremely important to know where Szarekh lies within the moral spectrum. You see the official reason why the Necrons are trying to save other sentient species from the Nids and the Great Beast is supposedly to later see if it is possible to make some reverse biotransference, which should mean Szarekh's desire to save other races is fueled out of selfish motives. But the Indomitus book offers a different possibility for the motivation within the Silent King's attempt to save other sentient species. The plasmancer says that Szarekh ordered his Nemesors to try to preserve human life if possible in order to "use them as labor" in case biotransference is not possible. Now think about it, using humans as labor is a terrible idea if you are a Necron. Necrons have drones in droves to do manual labor, so autonomous humans who need amenities and extensively processed biomatter are useless as a workforce to them. Yet Szarekh insists on telling the Necrons to preserve the life of these meatbags for two ultimately futile endeavors. What if he is actually just trying to convince overlords to not kill sentient species by using these two motives as excuses to justify such an order? Szarekh has clearly done horrible things, but it is entirely possible that he is trying to redeem himself for his actions, both towards his people and towards the galaxy. Or he is a lighter shade of grey, not-so-Grimdark imperialist who just wants to rule over as many diverse subjects as possible without being a murderous jerk. Clearly the morality of Szarekh requires a lot more study within the black library, after all we don't see many great redemption arcs in Warhammer 40k, and Szarekh can provide us with one.

Some fluff suggest that the ancient Necrontyr asked the Old Ones for the secret of Immortality. While the Old Ones offered instead a cure for their blighted biology. Suggesting that the Old Ones wanted to give the ancient Necrontyr the chance/time to make themselves immortals on their own. Under the idea the Old Ones never gave any race the secret of Immortality, but wanted them to developed on their own like the Old Ones had. This meant normal life spans without pain for ancient Necrontyr, but not the immortality the ancient Necrontyr coveted. Meaning the Old Ones were not so cold and cruel as the ancient Necrontyr described them. Instead like in everything, the Old Ones tried to guide the ancient Necrontyr into being a better race. This was the greatest insult to ancient Necrontyr, they didn't want to be normal, like every other race. They wanted to be better than normal, to be unto Gods like the Old Ones, they were almost as old and deserved it for everything they suffered. So the ancient Necrontyr rebuffed the Old Ones and damned themselves forever.

That's why we won't see it I guess. Necrons are more than capable of using any of the "I WIN" buttons they have - and they have several of those - but that'd be the end of the W40K world. Which would not necessarily be a bad thing but unlikely.

I am curious, as a voice actor and someone who has been in the 40k community for some time (I voiced Vulkan and some other characters in the Emperor Text to Speech series and some different games/mods for the community), what is your recording specs, the microphone you use and your general experience with voice over related stuff? I feel like you have a candid voice to engage in a lot of things. Wouldn't mind speaking to you about it at some point to be frank. Either way, I definitely will be tuning in for more.

It is a travesty of justice that your channel's viewers are not in the millions. You're writing, your voice, damn man... stellar work. I'd say Emporer bless, but that hypocritical codger is not worthy of your fine crafts good sir; nor the C'tan any more worthy with their ability to render stars plucked from the sky. The Old Ones are entirely to blame for this. Supposedly they were open-handed, but when they met the species that needed their help most of all they did nothing. They decided to sit by and do nothing while the Necrontyr lived and died in brief agony out of what can only be described as arrogance. If the Old Ones had shown compassion to the pained children lashing out then there would be no War in Heaven, and the Necrontyr would likely have been the best allies the Old Ones could ever hope for. Perhaps the Old Ones could have used this to change the Necrontyr for the better; "As we showed mercy to you, show mercy to the less powerful races you meet on your journey". I hope when the Old Ones were devoured by the Star Gods that at least some of them realized they had only themselves to blame.

The Necrontyr proved themselves untrustworthy before they even met the Old Ones. Out of pure jealousy, they killed entire races that the Old Ones created. Their children, if you will. If the Old Ones helped them, how long would it be before that jealousy made the Necrontyr covet the knowledge of their saviors and turn on the Old Ones and their races again?
