Cheers pal. Was just showing as this is such a common thing on Vauxhalls, most corsa owners being under 25 (mostly new drivers 17-21) so they never service their oil and end up with this issue 😂😂

Hey no worries, it’s a simple job as long as the bolts are in good shape and to be safe you can use a torque wrench. Those bolts are only about 8nm. Very easy to snap or strip the threads. I’m so glad you managed to do yours and find it easy. Soon enough you’ll be doing the thermostat or water pump 😂

Elsewhere I've seen it suggested that a 2mm bead of silicone sealant should be added to the joints between timing cover and cylinder head - is it a good idea to do that too? Great video, I've got to tackle this job soon and am happy to do it now.

@@jattdon11 easy! Did all the work within an hour, once the rocket cover was put back on the engine, I left the car over night then started it up the next day ( allowing the gasket sealer used on the timing chain cover to cure properly)

This is my next job, my Corsa d was misfiring whilst driving I thought it was gonna cut out, when I took the 4 spark plugs out only 1 of them was covered in white carbon, I cleaned it and car was fine for a while BUT I did notice a little engine oil on the plug not sure how that got in there but watching this and other videos it looks like I’m gonna have to replace my valve gasket. I’m an amateur car enthusiast done loads to my car, hardest job I did was last year serpentine belt, had to remove engine mount and VERY hard getting belt off and on again My next job is this valve gasket

Just looking to do the gasket change now; you're video is excellent. In my Haynes, before refitting the cover it says to apply a 2mm bead of silicone sealant in the joint between timing cover and cylinder head - there is a groove either side of the timing chain - but I've not seen this done in yours or any other video of this work that I've viewed. Is it not necessary?

Just changed the oil pressure switch on mine and now it appears to be leaking from the rocker cover down onto the alternator. Also got a stripped sump bolt so a simple job has turned into a night mare

that gaset looks newish, that's not the factory seal, thats a replacement as the factory one would be brittle by now. I reckon it's a bad install, they didn't clean the sufraces and ponked it on top of dirt so it couldnt seal. Or they just didnt torque it down enough

Maybe the gasket was installed incorrectly, or the bolts were over-tightened not through spec. I have also never seen a head gasket leak, if the gasket looks like this

No , some ticking from the chain is normal as it's a chain. But if it gets worse you need a new timing chain

If not changed will this cause smoke in between the oil filter and the engine ie, left side of the filter ??

This is just mainly for leaking out of the engine, if you have leaking out of the engine you can send me a video on Instagram or photo. It can cause some smoke if it gets on exhaust
