Vauxhall Astra O2 Sensor Location, & Replacement.

Engine Management Light on, How to diagnose which oxygen sensor is faulty.
I also replace both sensors one without the special tool, and the other with the tool to show the difference.
The car is a 1.6 twin port Astra H 2006 model year
The engine had no lack of power before replacement, the only fault was the light on, causing the car to fail its MOT.

Did the same job on my Zafira b three months ago (sensor 2 only). cutting the wire is the way to go after you check you have the correct replacement part. the fancy tool should only be used for tightening the sensor afterwards. I bought my sensor off Ebay and luckily i checked the wiring before I installed it because two of them were in the wrong place. No more engine light since then though, so good times.

You're lucky with the number two! I had one in the past daihatsu cuore and that one was stuck as if it was welded on. I purchased a complete new second hand exhaust pipe and replaced it all together. 1-0 for me😅 Nice job aaanton 💪🏼

Hi there, the eml came on with my Astra too. using the "pedal test" the car will tell you the error codes without the need for any OBD tools. In my case it was the rear O2 that failed, disconnecting & then replacing the battery earth terminal will clear the code & light after youve done the work. Agree with you, these Astra Hs are great cars & really enjoy your vids.

Brilliant video. Thanks. Mine is sensor 2 (the hard to reach one I assume). I'll probably get mine done at the local garage as I'm not as talented as you. The thing is I recently had a new clutch fitted and got this code the same day? Could it be connected with the clutch replacement or just a random coincidence? How long can you drive without getting it done though? Can't really afford it till end of this month but really need my car. Catch 22. Thanks again!

My bank 1 sensor 2 code on obd2 caused engine light to come on but only just paid for entire exhaust system! Wondering if they’ve eg damaged a wire or if it’s just packed up. Great video 👍

I have a EML with a code of "P0136 - No plausibility between O2 sensor 1 bank 1 and O2 sensor 2 bank 1" What would you advice I do? Great video. I have the same fault code. However, I recently had the entire pipe replaced after my back box fell off and the fault occured shortly after that along with a slight rattle. I am wondering if the rear sensor could just have come loose in the new pipe and just need nipping up... is that a possibility? If I found it to be loose - should I try nipping it up first, clearing the code and then seeing if it comes back?

Just a little thing pin 1234 are the same colour wire for old to new as some are use 2 and 4 others use 3 and 4 for the heating control

Hey there. I had P0036 code and changed sensor 2. But it’s giving a P0036 and a P0141 code now too. It gives a voltage of 1.2 and at around 650 degrees as the CAT temp it alternates between 1.2v and 0v. The old sensor had a steady voltage around 0.45v. Any help on that? Shall I put the old sensor back in? Thank you

This works for some Opel Astra models: 1. Push the brake (and hold) 2. Put key in jack 3. Push the gas (and hold) 4. Turn key two steps 5. Read the ECN in the odometer display (take a note of the numbers beeing displayed) The four first numbers is the general code; So if you get 014107 and 017110 the code to google for is P0141 and P0171. This is called a pedal-test. It can be done without an OBD-reader (on-board diagnostics- reader). Hope I helped someone. (I have seen some ppl suggest one should push both brake and gas at the same time and then turn key two steps, this did not work for me, Opel Astra H 2009 Z16XER)

hello mate i got a corsa c last year i replaced the Exhaust but could not get the sensor so i just bought a new 1 but when i put it on i tryed to put it on without jacking the car up and messed the thread up so it is about 5mm out and wont go in all the way it dont make no noise or nothing but since then there have been a bad smell coming from the heaters when it worms up if you have it on worm air and i have been using so much petrol like i had a 1/4 of a tanks recently and it went down to the red with petrol light on and i only done 10 miles could could this be my problem thanks dennis

"Regulatur Probe" is the one before the cat (aka first sensor), "Diagnostic Probe" is the rear one (the sensor after the cat, aka second sensor). First one could be called upstream sensor, second one downstream sensor. Bank 1 sensor 1 and Bank 1 sensor 2. Bank 1 stands for the row of cylinders. A 4-cylinder engine have in general only a Bank 1, no Bank 2 as an v8 with two rows of cylinders.

@@aaanton11 Great video Anton. I have a 2010 Astra, same problem the EM light came on. Auto electrician shop diagnosed fault as O2 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1. Purchased the Sensor and a local Mechanic fitted it on for me today (decent bloke). Unfortunately the Engine Management light stayed on. Having seen your video a few days again and what you advised regarding changing both sensors at same time I am going buy the second one on the downpipe and get it fitted on. Hope it finally works and the light goes off. You made it look all so easy, I wouldn't even attempt it to be honest. Cheers.

Hi there, how are you mate, I know it has been long time, but just wanted to ask if you do not mind, cause mechanics tricked me by changing other car parts and costed me over 300 and same problem still occurs "Motor is a bit shaky when I stop in the red light or car starts working after 2 minutes it just shakes a bit and there is a different sound there as well(not loud)" and the car failed emission test twice already, you think could it help to solve those two problems ? I have actually, P0141 sensor 2 confirmed, P0130 sensor 1(pending), need to change just the after catalyc or both would you suggest, as you know they are expensive, sensor 2 is confirmed, however 1 is pending kinda, it will just double the expense level and am sure the mechanic fee also could double for the job, I am very beginner and bought a car with ignorance and now regret 💯, that's why I need genuine help from someone like you, at least a perspective, otherwise the mechanic will go after a replacement to the replacement of catalytic converter which is much much salty.

Hello I am having engine problems on my astra h My revs drop down really low and the car almost stalls out everytime I slow down to around 10 and 20 kph..and I also have an automatic and it still nearly stalls out..the only fault code I have is U0009 can these sensors fail without given of fault code or warning light And also my spark plugs failed after 55 thousand km and coil completely melted..anyone have any ideas

never remove any o2 sensors when the cars still warm, unless you want to round the sensor off or thread the CAT or sensor on the way back in
