BABA JANG or astra OPC if it is an Opel ... same car, different name... OPC/VXR should compete with Golf R, Cupra 265/280, Audi S3, etc... GTI competes with A250 or CLA 250, Audi 2.0 TFSI, etc... The GTI has that clever diff ;) and i think has a good advantage.

The OPC is NOT a Golf R competitor! But it is for the GTi! Thats why they made the OPC extreame..BTW, they don´t make a A3 2,0 TFSI anymore. unless it´s the S3. Now they have a 1,8 TFSI.

Why would they tell you there is less horsepower then there actually is? There probably is a few more horsepower, but thats just a difference in individual engines power.

Anwar Ali I don't think they can tell you any HP they want. Everything is regulated. It's not the manufactures who measures these things. It's like Euro NCAP. VW can't just say "ok, so we think golf is good and so it's gonna have 5 safety stars".

elukok Well going off what happened in Australia with the Ford FPV GT's 5.0L Supercharged V8 may explain it. Ford claimed the power at 335kw, however people were dynoing the car at around 330kw at the wheels which means it's potentially as high as 380 - 400kw or more at the flywheel. They just recently said in an interview with a local car magazine that the car is actually making 404kw at the flywheel, but because on really hot days the boost is limited after 15 seconds of full throttle to protect the engine from damage, so they were only allowed to rate it at it's lowest power output which is 335kw. It maybe a similar story with cars such as this Golf, the BMW M5, M6, M6GC and a few other turbocharged vehicles.

You know, I'm not hating the Corsa as much as I used too, especially with over 200hp now. My Dad used to have this shape as a 1.2 SXi, I know it's hard to judge this from it, but the ride was horrific, my Step-Dad's WRX was like a Rolls Royce in comparison. So my actual question, is the VXR Clubsport actually any good? (I probably should get out the hot hatch issue of evo I have lying around somewhere tbh)

It should be Astra OPC vs golf GTI sport both manual, the Astra has 400nm and it is slightly heavier than the golf, it is a perfect match in my opinion considering that the golf has 2.0 with 350nm and a limited slip.

There is no VXR with a magical button. Only the normal Corsa D VXR 192hp, and the Nür 205hp (england) and 211hp here in germany. The Nürburgring only got brembo brakes, an lsd from drexler, 18" magnesium rims, the duplex remus exhaust.

It doesn't make sense to compare them and at the end to come in conclusion that the corsa sucks. This Golf has more BHP so obviously is going to win the race. This Corsa has an aggresive and luxury design mixed together. But at the end if you just remap or tune it up to stage 3 it would beat this Golf. Btw Corsa has a smaller engine compared to Golf and it should be compared with Fiesta or Mini COOPER because they have the same displacement. Comparing two cars with different size of engine and standard BHP its just ridiculous. This Corsa just suffer from lack of torque so it would need just a stage 3 remap.

Given that the Corsa is less expensive, has less horsepower, torque and engine displacement and that the Corsa VXR in his base form is 7 years old (6 years older than the Golf) and that it runs a gearbox that was developed with Fiat... Not that bad I would say.

The old Corsa VXR is 1310kg and my one because of the Corsa VXR Carbon pack it only 1270kg the does 0-60 in 7sec and my one does it in 6.2 improved shifting and the golf in a race would get killed

The VXR is still a Halfords special, too much cheap looking bling but the Golf is pretty rank as well. 7.3 to 60 is fairly ordinary for a 200hp hatch and over 17 secs to 100, I thought the game had moved on a bit. The Golf put up some nice numbers but at a price. Good video.

somehow I think the Corsa VXR Nurburgring Edition was let down by a shit driver, as it says they could only manage 0-60 in 7.3secs when the cars stats indicate it can do it in 6.5 sec which I know is more believeable those cars are Quick! as my car can do it in 7.3 and I know that nurburgring edition is faster, maybe it would of benefitted from the use of the 99octane fuel? who knows. still an unfair match up as at the end of the day the corsa is still just a 1.6t compare to 2.0t, no brainer really as it will come down to torque.

Well the corsa is not as quick as vauxhall proclaim, it does have a rather shitty torque figure,. For a turbo,. 7.3 0-60 best part of a second slower than claimed,. I'd say it's lost in their crappy gearbox,. Never did like vauxhall gear box,. Or gearchange , In this case I'd buy nothing golf is too overpriced,.as nice as it is,. The corsa too chavy, in my opinion only,. And isn't quick enough,.
