Thx for describing how to remove the dash and instrument cluster. Guess you spared me for the time consuming jobb it might have been figuring out this by myself. Seems like i had the very same cluster problems in my Frontera, model 2000 made by Opel. Now all intstruments works fine cuz i got a brilliant idea. I removed and renewed all the fuses, both in the engine bay and fuse box in the dash. All instruments came to live again like magic. Most of the fuses, old as the car, had a layer of oxidation. No wonder the cluster did not work. Before the fuse change the cluster only worked while the park/headlights were on and after driving some distance.

And the old truck rumbles on great stuff. Loving the gear 'stick' i hope that came from correctly managed woodlands under the forest stewardship scheme :-)
@TheInfoworks10 жыл бұрын
The flatbillies this old truck carries on. The gear lever extension is a bit of Hazel just pilot drilled and wound on there, all to give greater leverage to account for general weakness. Cheers

Hi Andy, have you ever had to get a new key for your Frontera? I’m struggling to get anyone to make me one. Even Vauxhall say they don’t do them anymore and local locksmiths are telling me it uses an id48 chip. Different to any other Vauxhall. Is it because it’s a rebadged Isuzu and has an Isuzu immobiliser. Totally stuck and losing the plot with it
@TheInfoworks3 жыл бұрын
Hi, no I haven't, so if it's a problem with a lost or broken key and it's impossible to get a replacement,you may have to go "old school" and disconnect all the security stuff. Cheers

I have a 1999 Frontera Sport 2.2i and I can't get the gauges to work. Only the four gauges aren't working. I have soldered the contact surfaces to the connectors. Also bended the connector surfaces out to get bettee contact. Today I soldered the resistors as someone found that helpful. No change. When I reconnect the cluster the rev gauge moves one centimeter forwards. After couple tries it had moved to 3000 rpm already. Earthing has been checked and reinforced. Previously the panel worked sometimes but very randomly. Sometimes the readings were not correct. Now all four gauges are dead, everything else is working. What to try next??
@TheInfoworks8 жыл бұрын
Hi. I can only tell you what I experienced. I assume your 1999 is a Frontera B (Mk2). First the fuel gauge and then the trip stopped working. What ever I did I could not get the gauges to be reliable, so I got hold of another set, but the fuel gauge was all over the place. In ther end, after lots of messing about I had my original refurbished. The video is really about how to get the unit out. If you have success I would love to hear about it. Subscribed? Cheers, Andy
@Bashi888 жыл бұрын
Andy Reynolds Yes actually I subscribed as soon as I saw this video, this helped me a lot to start investigating! And yes it's Frontera B. It seems that whatever I do the worse it gets. Even if I really know electrics and how to fix things etc. Maybe I also have to find a second set or just pay for repair. This car is not very common here in Finland... Cheers!

Hi. There's one on Ebay at the moment. Search this:2000 Vauxhall Frontera - Speedo / Instrument Cluster / Clocks Warranty - 5059173. It's £36, buy it now. Cheers
@Bashi887 жыл бұрын
I also changed the stepper motors one by one as they were quite cheap to buy... No change. They still "work" because they move one centimeter forwards every time I reconnect the power to the panel. Maybe someone can find this information useful and just go and buy a new set :D I will try to rewire the 12V from somewhere else and also make earthing again, after that I might just have to buy new one....

Yup, subbed yesterday. Just gonna do this soon, as the alternator has gave up, but it seems a bulb may cause this, so before getting a new alternator, I'm gonna check the bulb first!
