I also think its possible that the small O-ring might be for the drain in the oil filter plastic housing !

If it has a small bolt in the centre of the housing then yes they have a drain for the oil to make less mess and the plug has an o ring on it.

You’re supposed to drain the filter housing first before removing it. It has its own drain plug. Saves a shit load of oil going everywhere.

if you start the engine and then check the oil level you will see false oil level because the engine sucked up and holds a little oil that is not going back to the oil tank. I'd just watch the level before starting the car, that gives real inspection details. Once I checked after stopping the engine and saw a little is missing so I refilled then next morning when I checked it was over the max level :D

Yes, need to wait at least 10 minutes before checking. A tiny bit over the mark won’t be a problem though.

Hello, I am looking on line to try to understand why the 1.6 CDTI oil filter is supplied with two O-rings. You say in the video that the small O-ring is for the sump plug and if you asked me yesterday I would agree. Today however, I now suspect that the black plastic tube that is hanging down and visible after the oil filter housing and filter is removed is also removable and simply pulls out and has the small O-ring attached to its top end where it inserts into the sump housing. I base my assumption after watching an oil change video of the 1.7 CDTI where the black plastic tube seems to remove in situ with the oil filter housing and has two 0-rings attached to its top end. ( Also the sump plug rubber seal is a much different design). Anyway I'm still not sure, so has anybody got the definitive answer ??

How did you get the imformation of drain plug’s torque?

Thats the oil degredation reset not the Service Light Reset.
