what nobody seems to realise is that this is the only full video review on youtube of the Monaro 500. The actual 5th gear ones are cut short! What a car. Definate future classic. It'll be up there with the lotus carlton and the good old v8 m5 for sure :D

Imagine if back in the day Pontiac decided to also sell this car in the US and called it GTO Redemption, man that car would be the ideal rival for the 2007 Mustang GT500 and could probably save Pontiac name while they are doing it.

@Beef1188 Yeah, Vauxhall is The British Distributor of this particular, as Tom said earlier, the car was imported from Australia, by its parent company, Holden & sold as a Vauxhall

they made a monaro with all wheel drive but not many they also made a ute and a station wagon with 6 litre v8 called avalache check out the new monaros

@rs200000000000 Actually, as Tom explained, in has shortened gear linkage, which eliminates a lot of the slack in the gearbox, thus making shifting gears quicker

@Gecko7291971 No, unfortunitely, they never offered the GTO's with a supercharger from the factory. However, the car is perfectly set up as is to put one on it. (MANY have done just that). Maybe some larger injectors and in need of a tune when you are done, but certainly not too expensive thing to do.

If u want one in the uk then elite cars in bordon Hampshire is probably your best bet as they specialise in manaro s and vxr8s. Rare beast the 500. I’d emagine today it would. Still set u back £25000/£30000. Nice but I would rather have a Bathurst s.👍

Yeah , it surprised me there doesn't seem to be many aware of the Bathurst. The whine from the charger alone is louder than most cars.A friend told me of the occasion he drove a mate's Bathurst, he came over like he had PTSD from the drive, I'm not even joking ,he was genuinely still in a state of shock from the performance.

@Gecko7291971 Not directly, there is a rare company that turns it into one, they just decided to rename it to opel monaro. By the time you answered this post i already sold it. had to pay 150€ for gas per month. Just isn't worth the cheap car.

I just hope the new ecology tax won't wind the price up too much...

@Gecko7291971 don't get me wrong it would be worth it, but the gas prices rose so much recently that I "decided" it was too much to have so i bought myself an old mercedes vith a 3.0 V6 turbocharged engine, it was a gas saver and i was still the one within 10% of the people who had the fastest cars in my country.

@z28snakeeater But our ford falcon will wipe anything from america becausit wipes anything from australia. The FG F6 4.0 Turbo inline 6 does the 1/4 in 12.3 in total stock form. Run a tune through it and you have 11's :D im 20 and mine is the base model turbo and does 11's. i suppose its like a high hp supra in ur world

Mates LS1 (car cost) $26k (engine mods $14,000) over 440hp@wheels n/a vs my Bf falcon turbo (aussie car/motor) 18.5k + 3.5K engine mods. these turbo falcons are amazing. Mines booked in for bigger cooler and exhaust+ tune or 550rwhp and 10second pass.. (on street m/t's) Dont get me wrong i love camaro's/ nice clubbies like my mates but even he agree's that if u want to go fast buy a falcon turbo :D
