Does it need to be calibrated when it's fitted - yes, in theory, but I didn't calibrate mine, and it worked fine - which could be coincidence if the wheels were straight in the donor car when it was removed, and straight in the car it went into. @@johanzambrano9003 Sorry Johan, Google Translate is really bad with its translation of what you are asking exactly. There are only two models of steering pumps on the Astra H models that I know of - one has a wider reservoir and looks rather different, so you can't easily mix them up. As far as I know all the ones which look like the one I use in my video are exactly the same as one another. Whether they work with cars with a different Electronic Control Unit I don't know for certain - but I would think so. I hope this helps.

Did you loose power steering completely? Mine is intermittent! And at a certain steering angle it kicks in ! Any ideas?

it could be low oil, yet the pump gets enough of it into the system, to function at harsher angles, or it could be a failed control circuit or electrical connection? To my mind it would seem easier to change it than to spend ages fault tracing, especially if you have a good breakers nearby.

that's very good to know - do you have a disassembly diagram/link/video or is it just obvious when one looks at the unit? I must say I never thought to take it out, examine it and repair it, rather I just got one secondhand and fitted it, on the assumption that it would be the quickest and easiest way to get the car on the road. So if you can give a little more info on what needs ordering, what to look for etc., whilst it's in situ, a lot of people could benefit from being able to order the fight parts in advance ready to do the job. Thanks for your input, much appreciated.
