I have exactly the same van as you but the Fiat Talento version. I did the same thing to the back door as you and dented a door by shutting the wrong one first. After owning it a little while you do not do it any more. As for repairing the damage, I took mine to a paintless repairer, he hammered it flat again and pulled it out, without breaking the paint at all, a real artist. You can't see where it was damaged in the slightest. It was a lot cheaper than the traditional paint repair method and doesn't open the paint up to the chance of rust, like rubbing down and filling does.

@razzyrascal79614 жыл бұрын
In the early 00's our business had a fleet of Sprinters, then due to cost saving measures around 2010 we started moving onto the Vivaros. This lasted 6-8 years until the decision was made to move onto Transits. We STILL have some of the 2010 sprinters going (the ones that we didnt sell!); All the Vivaros fell to pieces (aesthetically and mechanically - gearboxes mainly but also baffling issues with panel side doors failing); and the Fords are going fine so far. In summary out of an evolving fleet of 20 plus Van's the best have been the Mercs and the worst by a country mile have been the Vauxhalls. British engineering at it's worst (in our opinion). Might be ok if you get a big discount/sponsorship, or for local traders driving around their county and down to the local merchants but certainly no good for proper commercial site use and long commutes.

Nice review. Better than pretty much every other review as you’re using it and got use to it. I had an 11 plate from brand new and it was great, no problems what so ever then I got to around 60k mileage and the clutch went. Then it was fine and perfect for a while long then joust everything started to go, gear the cables from the gear box fell off as well they are held in with a ball valve? Guy from the AA said it is a very common fault. Anyway it was starting to cost thousands to keep it going. Got rid. Got a 17 plate had it for a few months now and it’s annoying as, my side door doesn’t shut first time nor does passenger door. It needs to be slammed shut. The central locking doesn’t work half the time and the handles are stupidly stiff that half the time I don’t know whether or not it’s actually unlocked. One thing that does annoy me as well is that I can’t have the time and mileage or temperature in the display on the dash? Wtf is the deal with the single unit display. Silly things like that annoy me. The cup holders as well really annoy me too, I cannot fit a bottle of juice or my flash or drinking cup. It’s so annoying. They’ve put a cup holder at knee height in front of the centre seat. It’s pointless can’t hold any cup with liquid in it. They have also got rid of the hook which was perfect for holding bags for rubbish etc The seats are comfier though. Rant over 😝

Nice review Roger, some interesting points you made there. Shame about the dent, hopefully it won't be too expensive to get that repaired. I wonder if there are any aftermarket bumpers available to protect the edge of the door.

Nice review, I've been to the UK factory at Luton where they are made, and it's impressive. We have a fleet of Merc Vitos and Merc Sprinter vans where I work, and without fail the same dented rear door problem has happened to all of them. Don’t listen to an AA or RAC man there glass half full every van/car is different you either get a good van or a bad van. Just use good quality Diesal regular oil changes with good quality oil and you onto a winner

Hey man . Looking at one of these vans now. What a fantastic review. The way it should be. No bullshit. HEY I'M DRIVING A VAN AND HERES WHAT I THINK! Had an idea about the back door issue. Pretty simple fix really. To stop you closing the second door first put a pull down latch on the hinge. Might have to drill a few holes but the same idea as a tool box not closing on your fingers. Then when you pull the wrong door first it wont go. Just an idea . Anyway ....fantastic informative review.....cheers man.

Sussex Installations are going to put a plate on the back door. It protects the lock and gives a striking area for the other door.

Any diesel that is used for short trips or just around town needs a quick thrashing in low gear on a clear road. Always done that to mine before MOT test otherwise they would fail emissions many times. I've found German vehicles are overrated in their reliability. Every other owner of a VW or Merc will tell you how amazing they are and yet you hear of the cost of their repairs and you're wondering whether these people have even tried any other manufacturer. Considering how many Vauxhalls are on the road compared to Mercs, the RAC guy's view has to be taken in context.
@SkillBuilder7 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree with you. My Merc certainly didn't do that well. 3 window motor mechanisms, 1 turbo split, 1 engine management computer, ignition key receiver unit. However I did do over 100,000 miles in it

factory order 15 plate Vito 114 auto, short trips for 30 months now. Never had to rag my motor or drive onto motorway to clear the DPF. My friend bought a brand new Vivaro, drove it as all normal people do, 6 months later it died.... DPF. Took it in and got told just the same like the man in the video, that you need to rag it to clear the filters keep it in low gear and all the other bollocks. FF sake what is the point of all the ECO buttons and EURO6 engine standard if you have to drive like a nutter or else it is going to pack up and the fickin warranty will not cover it? I just........

Dainius G I agree, whats the point of having an eco engine with eco additives if you have to drive in a low gear at high rpms, increasing the amount of fuel burnt and bad emissions created. Seems to me that they cancel each other out.
@SkillBuilder7 жыл бұрын
In the end it is about trying to find a way to limit diesel emmissions. It isn't ideal but it is something. It was a massive error of judgement to make diesel cars so attractive and our kids are the ones who will pay. Look at all the kids with asthma who are really suffering.

I had a Toyota Hiace for a few years. Trouble free motoring. My new VW T6 Kombi drives like a dream. I haven't had it long enough yet. Only time will tell. But it does feel more like driving a car rather then a van.

Vivaro for me. I had a Vito and it was trouble almost from day one.

had a mk1 vauxhall vivaro from new and during the first week of ownership did exactly the same thing with the back doors, and have noticed nearly every other of that type of van i see has a dent in the door where people have closed the doors in the wrong sequence. you would have thought they would have modified it for the mk2 lol

word of warning, the cam belt has a soft casement, which is totally pointless and anything that whacks it will knock your valve timing off completely and it will destroy your engine.
