I tell you what might be a good idea on that, Dropping the sump and cleaning out all the sludge. I know it's a diesel and oil will always be black, but you don't know how often that engine had been serviced! Just a thought! I drive a diesel and have always bought low mileage ones, but with every service, I do on it, I always run the engine with a Liquid Moli, engine flush. (Please Note, Other brands are available). With my last car, A Ford Focus, 1.5 Tdci, I bought it at 22,000 miles and when it was time to renew, which was 3 yrs, 118,000 miles, It never once needed any top up between services.

Hi Chris & Rob, This locks on the van are what we call slam locks. So more for multi drop and courier drivers. So once door shuts the handle is disabled. So the key is required to pop the doors. It stops people from walking up and opening door if couriers arms are full and can’t lock it them selves. Just make sure you don’t leave keys in the back and shutting all doors. It’s a common occurrence for me to have to go open them. Cracking vid as always

You guys before installing the turbo, should remove and clean the dpf. Had a turbo failure in a Corsa D with the same engine. A clogged dpf can create high back pressure.

Is there any particular reason you are not doing the numbers on the BMW as you always do them. We have been told the end result but no numbers. Very unusual this from a great channel.

My mechanic said only remove glow plugs when the engine is hot. I think the wise move would be to forget that glow plug until the engine is running.

A bit of an odd one if it was just a broken turbo but it does run. On the other hand if it was used for business often people can't do without a van for too long so they go and buy another one. Great video Rob and Chris and I will wish you a Happy New Year Gents. 👍👍

Looks like someone attempted to change glow plugs they are tricky to get out & well known for breaking in the head.probably removed turbo to attempt the removal of the seized glow plug.good luck with this one.

I'd take the intercooler out and flush it through, it could well be full of oil and crude especially important if the turbo self destructed

I think that van has been to a garage and found out the turbo was toast and knowing some garages they contacted vauxhall and told the owner how much it would cost to put right and the owner would not pay the amount so garage had to get van sold to recover their time

We had one in work and it had stuck piston rings causing oil to blow in to the exhaust manifold and through the turbo it was I big job but fun to do 👍👍

Rollback? I've had MoT stations record the odometer as MILES when it should have been Km. Only noticed after the event and you have to jump through hoops to get it fixed so not worth the effort.

The vans are not as exciting like that BMW, but you know the market to buy and sell, they are relatively cheap and easy to fix so nice profit makers for you. The body and interior on this one will apparently only need a 20 Pound clean up, it is very clean in and out. Hopefully the replacement of the turbo and some related parts will do the trick. I would be concerned with the muddled up glow plug, I expect you will find a good way to get it out and replace it too. Looks like it will be a quick turn around assuming no other issues.

If you ever get diesel with a knackered turbo remember to clean intercooler out. If you start it up and engine revs out the only way to stop it is to put it in 4th with breaks on and stall it..

Easy fix for you lads. I think whoever tried to do the glow plugs though they had broken it off in the head told the customer it would need a new engine and the owner just got rid because it needed a turbo and new engine.

My local Post Office sorting office bought about twenty five Doblo versions of this van back in 2012. I saw them delivered. They still look like new.

They realised they had made a mistake buying Fiats pretty quickly. With the constant short hops the posties do, the DPF needed constant regeneration. Pretty much every other day. Fortunately with these, the driver can do a manual regeneration. Turning circle bigger than an ocean liner also. My local sorting office had six of the Doblos and 40 Peugeot Partners.

Interesting Challenge. Check the oil isnt diluted with diesel from a leaky injector. Some turbos have their own oil filter on the inlet, could have got blocked with debris also. no harm taking the sump off either to check the oil pickup. Best of luck guys.
