Amazing resque from the safety divers. That guy would have died. He was completely gone 1:08:30 I wonder what had happened if he was 15 meters deeper??

When a person blacks out, he/she keeps a heartbeat but does not ventilate. The rescue team brings the diver to the surface asap to prevent more severe anoxia or drowning. We have a reflex called laryngo-spasm that blocks water from entering the lungs for a while. If rescued in due time by the safety team the diver shall be revived shortly. (rescue breath involved) Of course, blackouts underwater should not be taken lightly, they are the last call, and ideally athletes should be conservative in their announcements to avoid BO. A black-out is not healthy, we loose quite a few brain cells when this happens. Just like boxers don't want to be knocked out too many times in their career, freediving athletes don't want to experience too many black-outs during their competing years.

This is my first time watching this kind of event. It's super impressive to watch these people dive so deep, but man is it also super nerve wracking. The guy that blacked out more than 30m down is some terrifying stuff
