My first contribution to the KZbin Vinyl Community. Instead of a traditional introduction vid, I thought the Vinyl Tag / 20 questions was a good place to start.

Hello. Loved your intro video. I have been dropping vids myself over the past year but never properly introduced myself to the vinyl community, so I am attempting to make my rounds and do just that. My name is Brian. I really found that Bob Mould, Sugar album quite intriguing. I’m a Husker Du fan, so you have compelled me to go and give Copper Blue a listen. Thank you. All the best.

I'm also a cycling fanatic - riding and spectating. I have three road bikes. It's addicting. My favorite album discovered via a VC video is John Frusciante's "The Empyrean", a brilliant and beautiful concept album. Cheers Mark!

Hi, and thanks for watching. Good to meet another cyclist. Addictive indeed, though some health/injury issues have kept me from cycling much for a while now. I've subbed to your channel, will check out some vids. Cheers. Mark.

Very enjoyable posting of the 2018 vinyl tag. I'll have to check out Affinity and Sugar. Audiophile is not a dirty word. LOL! It's an expensive word! I could pay off my wife's student loan and pay off the mortgage for the money that some folks have invested in their home sound systems. I love watching audiophile videos anyway. All the best. Peace...
@BacktotheVinyl6 жыл бұрын
Hi Topper. Haha yes expensive indeed, my wife would definitely concur :-). Let me know if you find anything you like in those bands. Cheers. Mark.

Hi Mark, nice eclectic showings....good to see. I got that Miles Jack Johnson album,.....not so knowledgable on jazz, but this made me smile. Look forward to some future videos.... I just subbed back. Steve

Hi Steve. Thanks for the sub, mate. Classic Miles album there, and a great entry into his stuff for a rock fan as it's half way there anyway :-). Cheers. Mark.

Hey thanks mate! You're very much one of the reasons I plucked up the courage to have a go. Selfishly quite pleased you're off work so we get a video flood from you :-) Although, as I mentioned earlier, really hope you heal up quickly. Ex-sciatica sufferer so you have my empathy/sympathy. Let me know what you think of Affinity etc. Cheers. Mark.

Welcome to The VC Mark. Nice vidéo ! I want to make a Vinyl Tag 2018 but I couldn’t get and idea for the posthomous album... and this Monk is my favorite buy from 2017, from Sam Records in Paris. I think I will borrow you that idea, if you don’t mind... I like this Buggles album as well... See you. Bruno

Hello!! Welcome to the VC! This was a great first video, interesting responses. Pet Sounds was actually quite disappointing in my opinion, because everyone says it’s one of the best albums ever made and I just didn’t get into it. I loved them when I was younger, but I guess it’s just not my thing anymore. Great start to your channel! Can’t wait to see more. Take care :)

Welcome to the VC, man. Very good for a first video - you seem comfortable in front of the camera. We have a couple of artists in common. Big Elliott Smith fan myself. I was a co-promoter on a show of his in about 97 or so. We paid him $400. A year so so later, he was performing at the Oscars. Big Mould fan, as well. I do love Sugar, but Husker Du is my fave Mould band. I have a review video of the recent Husker Du box set on my channel. Definitely not as melodic as Sugar.
@BacktotheVinyl6 жыл бұрын
Hello, thanks for the welcome! Great Elliott Smith memory there...I bet he was never that cheap again :-). I'll seek out your Husker Du video, thanks...I keep thinking I should give that band another listen, particularly because I'm such a softy for everything else Bob's put out. Cheers! Mark.

Welcome to the VC, Great intro video. I think I may have bought that Dolli De Luxe based on the cover as a 15 yr old as well. haha. nice Samsung Tab, which one is it? I just got the Tab A 10.1, I love it. I am about to make a Jack Johnson album collection video, but it is not the same artist. The Jack Johnson I am showing is a newer artist from 2001 - present. Thanks for subbing, and I hope to see more from you soon. ~Cap
@BacktotheVinyl6 жыл бұрын
Hi Cap, thanks for the welcome, great to be here. So you're the other person who bought that Dollie de Luxe LP eh? :-) My tablet is a Galaxy Tab S2. Excellent device, mostly used as a remote control for my digital system and for reading the news etc. I'm still a PC guy at heart though, give me a keyboard and mouse any day. I have the 2005 Jack Johnson album "In Between Dreams" on CD. Nice tunes and a great recording too. I'm curious to hear how it might sound on vinyl sometime. Cheers. Mark.

Really enjoyed your first video Mark. I'd not heard of Affinity, but will check them out. Love your Mahavishnu and Miles picks. I got a lot of Monk on cd. Only one vinyl. Great stuff. One of my faves along with Miles. Mingus, Coltrane, Getz, and Louis. Bandwagonesque is one of my top albums. I once met the band a spoke at length to Norman Blake in a patio before a show.-Lou
@BacktotheVinyl6 жыл бұрын
Hi Lou thanks for watching and commenting. Sounds like we definitely have some overlap :-). How excellent to have spent some time with the Fannies, really cool. Norman always comes across as a chilled "normal" fella in interviews. Cheers! Mark.

Going to check out the Dollie de Luxe, sounds bizarre, not a fan of the other vinyls you showed, but enjoyed the video nonetheless. ps - Demon fuzz is quite well known, thousands sold, maybe not talked about in the VC much?

Glad to hear you enjoyed it despite having different taste, that's a pretty good compliment :-). Yes, I figured a lot of people would be familiar with Demon Fuzz, although I've not seen it in the VC yet. Let me know what you think of Dollie de Luxe !!

Absolutely correct about Sugar. If you ever get a chance, look for the Gee Angle promo live 7" single. It is absolutely fantastic. It was only a made as a promo. It has a great live B-side of the instrumental Clownmaster. Also love Teenage Fanclub. Great video.

Hello, Mark. Nice to meet you. Elliott Smith was one of a number of artists, along with Vic Chesnutt, Mark Linkous, Jason Molina and Thomas Hansen (St Thomas), whose music sadly seemed to foreshadow their death. But maybe that's looking back with hindsight. I agree with you on Sugar, I'm a sucker for a good tune and Bob Mold can write a tune. It's funny the number of people who are saying Frank Zappa is their blindspot, he is for me as well. Good to see the Fannies! Bandwagonesque is great fun, as are all their records. I've always liked that Afreaka! album cover, but I've never heard it. You reckon the chappy on the cover's granny knitted him that balaclava? I'm looking forward to your next video. Cheers - Hedley
@BacktotheVinyl6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Hedley! Your videos are among my favourites on the VC, even more so now I know you're a cycling nerd :-). Great to hear you like Sugar & the Fannies as well. I've got one of my grails incoming in the mail at the moment that's in a similar vein. To be revealed soon! My wife was pretty creeped out by the Afreaka! cover...she may relax a bit if she thinks his granny kitted the balaclava :-). Give it a listen if you get a chance, it's great fun. Cheers. Mark.
