So. Heres a story. In feb 2020 she came to perform where i live in india (mumbai ) at the N.C.P.A. Got to watch stella play wienawksi stravinsky and many other composers pieces live. As an 11 year old it blew my mind, she is truely marvellous

....Great interview! My best memory of Mr. Perlman was a concert that he played with my soon to be teacher at Juilliard, violist Walter Trampler. They performed at Alice Tully Hall or Juilliard Theatre with the schools orchestra.... I can't quite remember which hall. They played Mozarts' "Sinfonia Concertante" for violin and viola. Mr. Perlman was not so famous then, but his reputation was beginning to spread. It was a concert to raise money to fight against the war in Vietnam. I was about 16 years old.....very turbulent times, to say the least.

Such a great ambassador of the violin and classical music in general. He was everywhere when I was a kid and was always down to earth and warm. I identified with him because we both played the violin and we both had big ol dynamite Afros!!! 🤣😂🎻👍🏾👏🏾

great interview! nice to know he's still going strong. i read a newspaper interview recently where he said he was looking forward to concertizing again if/when the pandemic is over. i would love know exactly which pieces were so difficult that he could not play them. can't imagine.

I have always been intrigued by the strenuous way Perlman and Vladimir Ashkenazy deny being child prodigies, with their singular joy in life and their humility being an absolute fact. The term “child prodigy” brings to mind tortured, unhappy adulthoods, which is often accompanied by imaginary adversity....think Jascha Heifetz: an overbearing father and one bad review stopped his joyful journey in life in its tracks, draining that quality from his life forever. He never for one instant knew true adversity! Maestro Perlman could have taught Heifetz what _true_ adversity is, and his joy in his art, in his wife and their children has been a beacon for me and many, many other people around the world. And it’s funny, both Ashkenazy and Perlman have a sweetness in their sound when playing that I haven’t heard in any other musician, except Jacqueline du Pré. This is lovely!
