Lord Of Onions a lot of Germanic tribes were barbaric and evil, they raped Roman women and constantly raided villages under the Roman Empire’s protection. The Native Americans were pretty barbaric too but a lot of the tribes were also quite peaceful and they engaged in trade with other tribes. It was mainly the Apache and Comanche tribes that were savages. The others like the Anasazi even built cities under the Mohave desert cliffs.

Interesting how in many history videos about the Japanese conquest of South East Asia the conquest of the Dutch East Indies is barely mentioned. Interesting enough, thís area was because of its rich oil fields on Borneo, Java and Sumatra the main goal of Japan. In fact the Japanese promised Indonesia independence but ruled it with an iron fist. When Japan surrendered the Indonesian nationalists quickly used the situation to declare an independent Indonesia.
@GhostMacross01
@GhostMacross01 5 жыл бұрын
The Indonesians obtained their independence from the Dutch due to large part by stay-behind Japanese forces that did most of the fighting and training the Japanese-trained Indonesian national army. The British nearly defeated the Vietnamese before 1948 but was prevented by the United States. The British was also in Indonesia and from their intelligence gatherings the national Indonesian army would be brutally crushed while the Dutch Colonial forces would be medium bled but remain ultimately victorious if the Japanese stay-behind forces did not get involve. However today's Malay films and literature show the Indonesian independence was done almost entirely by the Malays themselves without much help from foreigners, a blatant distortion to portray their Malay superiority. The majority of the Japanese who fought beside the Indonesians did so to avoid returning to a defeated Japan for the time being. Many never fought against the allies so this was their opportunity in defiance of the Emperor's Orders. Very few actually willingly fought for Indonesian independence as Europeans and Japanese have seen the Malays as unreliable violent primitives who are good for manual labor or limited semi-skilled labor. The whole idea was pretty much for the Japanese to give the European colonial powers the middle-finger.

The main reason they lost the War was because they didn't get to the oil field in Balikpapan (Borneo) before the Dutch burn it all up... They got to oil field in Sumatra (Padang) but it didn't have enough oil to power their war machine... After that, they started to fight a very static defensive war... They didn't have enough oil for their planes and ships to conduct extended sweep.

My great great uncle was a commander for the Japanese fleet during the Russo Japanese conflict. Essentially the reasoning they won was a modern fleet combined with British sea warfare tactics. My great great uncle was sent to the UK for training and learned from the best commanders in the British fleet. On the other hand the Russians commanders were chosen based on loyality to the Tsar and not for there ability’s in strategy.they were too cocky and in the end lost. This in turn led to the people of Russia wanting to overthrow the Tsar and the flame for the Russian revolution was ignited.

Almost foreigners think Japan had become modernized nation from retarded country so suddenly. It is very surface knowledge. Before Meiji restoration, Japanese literacy was 60% and even farmer or casual low class civilians could read and write Japanese sign and Chinese character. More over they could use mathematics with abacus. When Perry arrived at Edo bay he surveyed the bay , and he was surprised for a map of Japan which was made by Japanese INO,TADATAKA. The Ino's map was brought by German Von Siebold secretly from Japan. Perry bought the map from Siebold and he wished to investigate how much correct the map is. The Ino's map was extreme correct. Perry comprehended Japanese ability. His diplomatic attitude was changed from prejudice as well as to another Asian country. Perry's diplomacy became to be polite.

After WW2, US allow Korea to be independent from Japan. That was great mistake, but one of strategy to be the interfering country between US, against China and Russia. If the Japanese annexation continue, Koreans had much more civilized, safe and peaceful country with great technology advance. But now, Korea never be the politically independent country from the past, now, nor for the future.

that's not funny. isn't that the reason why the British troops lost when the Japanese invaded Hong Kong at midnight? one British commander actually believed that and told his surviving subordinate over the phone "are you a fucking idiot? J@ps can't see at night!" and he hung up.

I’d say the strongest weapon ever developed of the Empire of Japan was the Soldier, can live off a pouch of rice in a disease ridden jungle, he doesn’t care if he dies all he has to do is at least take one Marine/Soldier with him to death Now coming from a country who was isolate they made an aircraft that could go on Par with Army Air Force and Navy Air Force aircraft the Mitsubishi Zero without the capture of the Zero I bet it’ll take year or two to find out how to counter the Zero used up to 1945.

No, cause the IJA will have to fight the Communists under Mao, since he let the Kuomintang under Chiang do most of the fighting. Even then, the Rape of Nanking and other horrendous IJA war crimes in China motivated the Chinese people to fight.
@condorX2

@@imgvillasrc1608 hello, I just wanna put this out. 神州 Shenzhou: What do you even know about Chiang? Chiang even served in the Japanese Army from 1909 to 1911. He purged communists from KMT and their removal of Communists from within the ranks allowed him free reign to give himself what amounted to dictatorial power over much of China. Source: 11 Things You Should Know About Chiang Kai-shek theculturetrip.com/asia/taiwan/articles/11-things-know-chiang-kai-shek/ When the Japanese invaded Manchuria, Chiang refused to face the Japanese invaders, until two of his subordinates, Generals Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng, had to kidnap him to get him to ally with the communists in a united front against the Japanese. (Xi'an Incident) Additionally, the Communists actually saved his leadership, and it’s often forgotten that without the Communists’ help, Chiang would never have survived as a political force, since was the communists who convinced the officers to release Chiang and allow him to take control of the government once again. Chiang’s efforts against the Japanese gained him some influential friends. And although the Communist General Mao was responsible for much of the damage inflicted upon the Japanese, it was Chiang who got the credit mainly from Britain and the US. When civil war broke out in China, Chiang expected help from the allies, but after a long campaign against both the Japanese and the Germans, the US and Britain were reluctant to get involved in a civil war. His Western ‘friends’ literally abandoned him. He suppressed local culture in Taiwan (White Terror) and was responsible for the imprisonment of 140,000 Taiwanese. These people were taken captive for their alleged opposition to the KMT. At this time, anyone openly criticizing the ruling party was deemed a Communist sympathizer. He held the Taiwan presidency for 25 years. He held the Taiwan under a permanent state of martial law, thus ensuring his power was absolute. In fact, the constitution only allowed for two terms in power, but with martial law as his excuse, Chiang could rule indefinitely. So what makes you think China would have been the wealthiest nation under Chiang? And Chiang was clearly a dictator who jailed and executed dissidents and political rivals.. . .
