Something I noticed - at 0:18, the front weather seal under the bonnet is still fitted. You can see where it sits on the front trim panel-very close to the CAI mouths. Would it improve airflow into the CAI to trim out the centre piece of the weather seal, about the width of the CAI?

that sounds really good for a v-6, did you notice the intake making a big difference to the sound of the car, or is that just the reverb from the dyno cell?
@IndependentMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
That's actually how it sounds our dyno room has a lot of acoustics in the roof so we don't get much reverberation off the walls. Cheers stathi

@@IndependentMotorsports in that case this thing sounds great, I've had a few people tell me that my ute (09 SV-6) sounds good, I suspect its because I hit a rock a bent the front sub-frame and right hand side collector years ago giving it a bit more of a meaty note, but this thing sounds way better, it has a really nice meaty note like a cross plane v-8, compare it to some of the high power v-6's (like the R35 GT-R's) and thing thing sounds awesome, whoever owns it should think about throwing some turbos on it to get a V6 that sounds great and has some balls.. And great job on the tune, getting a 22KW gain out of an already highly strung from factory car isn't easy with nothing more than an OTR, It's not an L77 or LS3 that has a lot of headroom in the tune due to emission's, you got 330 RWKW from my L76, so probably 345 at the hubs with a fairly huge cam (238 IN/242EX 112 lobe sep), I'm getting 57kw per liter with terrible driveability and 20l/100 fuel consumption around town, this thing you've gotten 58 KW/L and it's still a nice car to drive and probably more fuel efficient than stock, great job mate.

It's up to the customer if we cut them or not most people don't like too. Most of the air is actually coming in from under the but yes I would recommend cutting the seal.

There is no way that engine is producing 188 rwkw, unless its the 230KW engine, then maybe ? But still good stuff so with headers and cats and cat back exhaust , which will set you back around 5 k easy to get a extra 50Kw , thats about the price for the upgrade. :)
@IndependentMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
That is correct that's what it makes on the hub dyno at the hubs!
@scottroberts31584 жыл бұрын
remember this isn't at the wheel's, wheel dyno's can suck another 10-15 kw depending on tyres, tires pressure heat ect, he uses the hub dybo as its alot more consistant than a roller dyno.
@ethansloss68544 жыл бұрын
Also I wouldn’t be surprised if the LFX actually makes more than 210kw. The v6 Camaros in the states are claimed to make 241kw and other gm models make mid to high 220kw. The reason Holden may have choosen to claim a 210kw power output would be to make the car P plate legal in states where late model cars are restricted based on power to weight ratio.

Every car looses a significant amount of power through the drive train to things like heat and vibration, typically around 15% although manuals seem to do better than autos. Thats why dynos are generally prefered to manufactures stats for engines; its what the car is actually making where it matters, on the road.
