I've been using Mastercam since the early 90's, starting with V6. This often was a common issue. Seeing what was or was not happening, revealed what and where the problem was and the course of action to take to solve it. When I began using Vectric, I couldn't do anything with it. Trying to diagnose a problem with Mastercam thinking and solutions did not help. Videos like yours and others helped me get through those problems step by step. They are very valuable teaching tools. Thanks for doing them.

I had a similar issue with an engraving yesterday. Multiple duplicate vectors being ignored. ( line over line ). My quick fix was to click on a line, ( would show up as a darker pink ) , then I click it again ( whch would select it and not the 2nd line, then delete. No node editing / moving required. Cleaned it all up in just a few minutes :-) After this i have better understanding of the vector validator though . Cheers

Love your video's, but so frustrated. Been working on a piece for 3 days now, and thought I was done...49 intersections! I was able to solve the overlaps, thanks to your video, but I can't figure out the intersections. I found your "JD Crafts" video, and it's a similar issue, but it seems that was unresolved as well. The points are merely connecting with lines at various locations, but no matter what I try; "join open", "join/close", "curve fit", "fillet", redraw the lines or curves, nothing seems to work. Any feedback would be helpful as I'm under a time crunch to complete.

@powerpc60372 жыл бұрын
The error message went away at the end because you chose the profile toolpath to run ON the lines, while the original error message popped up when you tried to run the profile toolpath outside the line. You also ran that same toolpath before you started fixing everything and it didn't give the error, so it doesn't have anything to do with faulty vectors overlapping or intersecting. If you simply draw 2 lines, where one runs horizontal and the other runs vertical and they intersect, you still can run both using a profile toolpath on the lines and it will mill perfectly. I guess everything you did didn't fix that issue because that error informs you that there are open vectors in the design that it cannot run using a profile toolpath outside the lines. An open vector doesn't have an outside or inside, so you cannot run the profile toolpath on the outside with everything selected. When you just ran it anyways, only the outline of the jeep and wheels were calculated as those were closed vectors which do have an outside and inside and will run fine using such a toolpath. All the details in the jeep are designed with open vectors and cannot be calculated using a profile toolpath outside the line. So the issue persists, even after fixing everything using the vector validator. You could select the wheels and jeep outline and run a profile toolpath outside the lines, then select all the details and run another profile toolpath ON the lines.
@IDCWoodcraft2 жыл бұрын
PowerPC603 Vaelen, you bring up a lot of great points about the open vectors! Thanks for the tips my friend!
@powerpc60372 жыл бұрын
@@IDCWoodcraft Just got on my pc to try some stuff myself to confirm my own theory. Seems Aspire 10.5 (I got a trial version) does calculate a profile toolpath on the outside or inside of a straight line and arcs that are open vectors without any errors. I'm a beginner myself and assumed doing a profile cut on the outside/inside of an open vector wouldn't work but it does. It seems my above assumption is not entirely correct. But I'm still wondering why you couldn't get the details to show up when doing those outside profile toolpaths on them, especially on vectors that didn't have errors according to the vector validator. I also created a zigzap polyline that intersects itself 5 times and ran an outside profile toolpath. Vector validator says I got 5 intersections but calculating the toolpath gives no errors, just an unexpected result as not the entire line has been cut out.
@IDCWoodcraft2 жыл бұрын
You cannot run a profile tool path on an open vector unless you are on the line. If you create clothes vectors across each other, you will get validation errors.
