As a kid, I followed the stories of Gerald Weigert and his Vector Aeromotive in the car magazines and absolutely fell in love with the W8. Maybe I just miss the dreams of my adolescence, but I still think this car is just amazingly cool. As I understand it, this yellow car was originally owned by a Texas oil man. Back in 1993, I saw this car driving down Cooper St. in Arlington, TX. I about crapped my pants when I saw it. If I ever came into some money, I would LOVE to get my hands on a W8...

the14u36 Hahahahaha..... yeah sure. The mechanics are all from normal GM production, the gearbox if a 3 gear hydraulic from a fucken motorhome of the late 1970s, look it up. There is no available video of anybody having the guts (and insanity) to go fast, say 280-300 km/h on this crap. This was basically a scam, there is no real race-level engineering in it, no special alloy parts....just a big GM engine modified to 6000cc and with two large turbos mounted on a boxed frame with a weird body kit, mostly in plastic, mounted on it. The company failed miserably for a reason buddy.

I agree! And theres no chance there's a Ferrari at his home. Supercar owners have and never will put their house key on the same keyring as the car key. If you ever purchase one, you will be given a talk as to why you don't put the 2 together. It has nothing to do with looks. Its a security issue.

Great catch! This was a bit of a "unicorn" vehicle to me and friends back in the 80's, knowing it had serious power but other things about it made it seem sort of kit car, cheesy and unfinished... yet another look and I thought it was bad ass again! I always had respect for it though-- starting a company like that was nearly impossible in the late 20th century. That one looks in pretty good shape, and though I hate the ostrich skin, I'd take one if I found one like that and had the money. I noticed a lot of low-angle shots from your camera lol; I used to do that a lot to when the Ferrari club came to town each year where I grew up. I thought it was what I was supposed to do -- like the "Road and Track" photographers! Yeah! Funny thing is, the reason the cars looked dramatic is when looked at from a typical human height... standing up, with other cars and people near them for scale. That's when they look the most dramatic. All the car shows and magazines do the same thing (low angle), and for years I wondered "why do the cars look better in person?". It's because you're not squatting down and trying to be artistic; you're just standing there looking at it with a crappy Ford Taurus next to it or something...

@JD0x0 Where are you getting your info? The W1, W2 and W3 cars used the same V8 engine. An aftermarket block utilizing GM smallblock chevy sized parts. 366ci, forged rods and crank. Basically the best aftermarket parts you can get. It was rated at 1100-1200hp at 14psi boost and 110 octane racing fuel. On pump gas and 5-6 psi they made around 550-600hp all day very reliably.

When I tinker with my car I'm glad to know that I'm making it my own, that I'm reinventing it as my personal machine. I know it's a "different" philosophy and it often results in our "stock" model cars being sub-par in performance. You have to remember how many big names in Europe send cars to American based tuning companies, who spent years squeezing power out of low octane fuel and archaic engine designs. They seem to have become specialists in making Horsepower appear from nowhere

I have been all through a Countach and it looked like crap construction compared to what we were doing. It's a chromoly chassis with structural aluminum bonded and riveted. The wiring and electronics were made by a military wiring contractor, 1" honeycomb core aluminum sandwich floor. |
