This game gets a lot of crap because people think it was Sega's answer to Donkey Kong Country when it was never intended to be. It's a really neat game though that deserves more credit than modern gamers give it.
@Thor-Orion Жыл бұрын
It was DEFINITELY meant as a graphical answer to DK, but I’m really glad that Sega allowed them to make the game they wanted with the run and gun gameplay and neat mini games and bosses. If they had done a cookie cutter character platformer it would have been so dull and dreary.

Vectorman said Gone baby gone, trust me I played this game religiously when I was younger he’ll I broke my version just replaying every single level over and over again just to find all the power ups, morph abilities, secret areas, hidden cheat codes... that over time I was able to understand what v-man was saying during gameplay.

I'd rather watch this channel than most of the ones that have been around for a longer time. Great content and great quality! Got a fan right here

Dude, you are part of the Hidden Chest. You are so underrated and so good. 50 seconds in and I've laughed and been impressed by your editing. My idea for improvement? Change your channel name, as it does't really catch the eye. Maybe to Hidden Chest?
@TheHiddenChest8 жыл бұрын
That's probably true about the name, but I plan on making more than just hidden chest videos at some point, so it's all up in the air at this point lol Oh and thanks for watching!

Awesome review of an awesome game :) I'm a PC only gamer who mostly plays FPS and Racing games. But I've started digging into the Sega Genesis library on Steam and I'm really coming to love them. So far Vectorman is my top 3 next to Streets of Rage and Sonic CD. More people need to play this game.

And if you like challenging boss rush style games but with somewhat similar mechanics to Vectorman try out Alien Soldier too, fantastic as well, along with Mega Turrican and Contra Hard Corps.

Here's something I've constantly wondered: with so many indie companies using classic graphic styles (8, 16, 32, 64, etc. bit), why hasn't anyone made a game with this kind of spritework? its literally the best ive ever seen and I still can't find any games that recapture this style? If anyone knows of a game that also uses something like this, let me know. And if anyone is or is planning on becoming an indie game dev or something and is looking for some ideas, personally, I'd love to see a metroidvania with vector piece animation.
@Thor-Orion Жыл бұрын
They’re called multi-jointed sprites by most developers, but the technique with circular/spherical sprites being combined to animate a single character is SLIGHTLY different from multi-jointed sprites, so Sega used that marketing genius to come up with a snazzy name “Vector Piece Animation.” I’m actually an indie dev working on developing a series of games that will have gameplay like Alien Soldier+Turrican+Metroid+Vectorman+ Mega Man. The sprawling intricate levels of Turrican and Metroid with the mega boss battles of Alien Soldier and some of the Attitude from Vectorman. The art style is influenced by all these games but I intend to try and give it it’s own personality and feeling with art and animation that will pay homage while still being unique and fresh. That’s my hope at least
@frostcore2214 Жыл бұрын
@@Thor-Orion sounds great! Like I said, there definitely should be more games that play with this style of animation. Anyways, looking forward to seeing your game someday!
