Did this a few days ago, thanks for the video helped a lot on my Astra, I found out you don't need to undo the fuel pipe at 2:48. Just undo the 2 bolts and the small pipe coming off the injectors. Cost me £130 for a new manifold, £100 for timing kit + water pump.

There were apparently revisions brought online for the 2008 model year, to minimise the swirl flaps issue, but also to correct regeneration issues with the DPF (Vectra C estates and autos only, if I recall)

Thanks a lot. That makes sense, but I only just had the head rebuilt and the cam belt was done then. About 2 months ago. I'm not having much luck with this car!! I am not the most DIY friendly type of bloke, so I think I might have to give it to the professionals. I have ordered the new inlet manifold from a german company. My father in law is a mechanic and has had a look and reckons I could just replace the swirl arm that has snapped, but I'm thinking its best to get the whole kit and caboodle

my DMF(and aux belt) lasted 140,000, my (original) injectors run quiet with 200ml of semi-synth 2stroke oil per tankfull of fuel, I had the PCM updated, and finally ive cured my potholematosis (knocks), thank you council (not) ive had £60K back off a £4500 car, it gives a genuine 50mpg extra-urban (no 6th gear cruising)

Nice one PF, I'll have a long think about this before I even think-about-thinking about attempting the job myself. ;p Chances are I WILL end up taking it back to my mechanic friend who sold it to me but still, doing some research'll be educational for me. Just for the record she's a T-Reg Corsa Diesel (great little motor) and the cambelt's not been changed in 6 years... and I've got long journey coming up. Many thanks again PF. :)

Cancel, yes. Manifold, no. The pump isn’t timed though so it’s not a problem to take off, just lock the pulley to the casing then it’s a few bolts and pipes

Great video - I have done this exact repair many times as I advertise on Ebay for replacing the inlet manifold but I goto to ask why was the front bumper removed and why didnt you use the 3 painted on white lines to "time-up" the cambelt ?

The belt is a nightmare to get on even without the tensioner in place .Any tips?

@vanquis75 The whole thing including both jobs was about ten hours, but it wouldn't take me that long if I was to do them again. The belt doesn't need to be removed, as the fuel pump sprocket gets locked in place with a couple of 10mm bolts...

great video! not something i would even attempt! on that car, any idea what makes the steering noisy at very low speed when steering? similar to scraping the tyre over the ground? The main dealer would charge around £700 for that job.

Brilliant video, gives me more confidence to do my own on my 2008 CDTi 150 auto. I've carried out V6 omega changes before (with locking kit) but seemed put off by the Vectra, probably because I paid a lot more than £1000 for the car!!. Quick question, did you need a cam locking kit, and what was the reason for removing the bumper?

Hey very good Video! Do you have re-installed the wedge of the high-pressure pump again? So many people says that the wedge is not needed anymore.

You can, but if you're going into that much depth stripping the car down it isn't a massive step to do the cambelt at the same time mate. You need to drain the coolant for both so purely to save time further down the line (and if it hasn't been done recently) I'd get a waterpump and cambelt kit and change it...

I am fitting a Dayco KTB759 cambelt kit. The cambelt tensioner seems a bit weird. I can see in the video that you used a bolt to lever against but how did you adjust the tension?

where do you lock the cam sprocket ? and how do you remove timing belt when the positioning tool on the crankshaft is mounted ??......

hi guys, sorry to interrupt but this is the closest video i could find on removing the inlet manifold on a vectra. slightly going off conversation here but i need new glow plugs in my 2006 1.9. do i need to remove the inlet manifold as the plugs look like little a bugger to get to? agian i apologise for interrupting thank you for any help

@djfuny If you're going to remove it you might as well replace it as it's the removal and installation that takes several hours. Allow a day for the whole thing just in case...

I replaced my intake 2 month back, your video was of great help. I am preparing for the timing belt service, do you still remember what drive size were the ribe bolts used on the V-belt pulley? (the big one attached to the crankshaft).

Fuel pump isn't timed up manually, it's ECU controlled due to using the Common Rail. What size bolts are you using on the Fuel Pump Pulley to hold it in place? Correct me if I'm wrong, is it m6 x 40mm?

Great video! Quick question, I have just bought a new inlet manifold as the swivel arm has snapped off and the car is in limp mode and driving like a Mondeo ha ha ;) Does anyone know if I can change this without touching the cam belt?

did vauxhall revise the 150 1.9 cdti manifold? Picking up a Zaf with this engine and read they redesigned it in 2007. Or fiat may have....?

Hi what you do with intake modified replacement or clean? My Vauxhall Astra SRI XP 1.9 has faulty code is P2279 might broken or leak or crack will look as soon I was driver loss power and speed going down not enough pressure boot then turn engine off few a mins back engine up rev speed keep faster few mins loss power again :(

Good video, but there's tons of stuff at the back of the engine to remove that you don't see in this video or the awkward positions, hand cramps, & cuts & bruises you'll receive while working on your Vectra! LOL

You'll need a special tool kit to set the timing belt & camshaft alignment, you can buy a kit off Ebay for approx £35. You'll never get the timing right without it.

The locking kit isn't technically needed, as the cam seems to stay in position by itself fairly well - they're not a bad idea though, just in case. I removed the front bumper to make it easier to drain the coolant for the manifold change, but it isn't necessary for the cambelt. Doing it on the driveway meant I needed as much space around the engine as I could get my hands on...

First time doing it, and if you look at my other video mate you can see me doing the inlet manifold at the same time. Took about 9 hours in total using the Haynes manual and the How2 guide found on the Vectra-C forum...

to remove/clean intake and EGR on a 2006 Mondeo Tdci - 1 hour, no bodywork to move, only 10 bolts, as for the cambelt - i aint got one.....im on 150,000 miles, chain lasts 250,000 or more with godd oil changes

cant imagine why it sounds like a transit... are SAAB still trading? After struggling to avoid insolvency throughout 2011, the company petitioned the Swedish court for bankruptcy following the failure of a Chinese consortium to complete a purchase of the company; the purchase had been blocked by former owner GM, which opposed the transfer of licenses for patents and technology to Chinese companies. SAABs are fancy vectras int they? built on same platform.same engines....just cost more...

@RS2000CUSTOM I was planning on trying to figure out why my headlight washers weren't working, plus it gave me better access to drain the coolant. It's only a few extra screws anyway... The timing mark was lined up on the crank shaft at the bottom, but I didn't notice the one mark on the cam sprocket till I'd taken it all apart. It didn't really cause any issues as such, but I'll know for next time. Thanks for watching! :D

The pump isn't timed mate, only the cam and crank shaft pulleys.

Ive had Saabs, inc a 99 (dolomite engine back to front and the key between the seats), ive had Fords, Saabs, Citroens, Pugs, VWs, Rovers (P5 and P5B, Daimler V12, BMW 735i, Vauxhalls (viva HC 2300, Velox, Crestas, ventora, carlton) Ive also been a trader, my driving licence is 40 years old (had the red one first), i speak as i find, and i find my 130PS/250Nm/s (+remap) fast enough, economical enough and roomy enough and over 150,000 miles reliable enough. Ill try a (-3 just for a laugh....

Nope, the glow plugs had to come out to get the manifold out, but they can come out on their own easily enough, but there is a technique to them...

50mpg+ and THATS without motorways too, and leg room for 5 adults+luggage, low insurance, cheap parts (new or used)...... ive had £60k back off my Ford Mondeo so far and it just keeps going.... If you see a plated Saab let me know, i never have

Yeah, the EGR valve lets in hot exhaust gasses (by design) which burns the oil mist coming in from the separater and gunks up everything including the swirl valves. these then fail, ruining the performance of the car. Remap it to get rid of the EGR, blank it off, replace the manifold and you never have to worry about it again...

we have a 2006 saab tid 150 and a 2007 mondeo tdci 130 estate . the mondeo is a heap of crap , always going wrong , noisey and nowehere near as nice as the SAAB inside or out or to drive . The SAAB is better on fuel and faster the mondeo is the worst diesel I have ever owned

Oh look who's been searching Google how sad i don't think Ford are in such great financial shape either. I'd still rather have my Saab than your Mondeo. And no not really they are built in Sweden by Saab but i cant deny that GM ruined Saab its a well known fact but they still made good cars with what they had so don't knock till you've tried.

I've bought Vauxhalls for years, since the 1970's in fact, but after owning the Vectra CDTi 1.9 16v I'll never buy another Vauxhall again & I don't think I'm the only one, so sad.

Mark Leadbeater nah that engine is a wanker. their cars are nice, i ike the insignia,. but can i trust a vauxhall not to go wrong? i mean like every time i use it not in general. plus they depriciate so fast, buy it today worth fuckall tommorow, i think its a fiat and alfa engine might explain a few things

yea but your car is slow mate plus my car can also handle 5 people plus luggage so duno what you chatting about there. My old mans got an x-type with the 2.2 dagenham engine and even that drives shit compared to my saab, still slower than my car plus it sounds like a transit.
