That's kinda like what happens by default with LLM's, if my basic understanding is correct. If it's made to be a more permanent memory, that could cause problems though. It would be like an LLM training on it's own data, which causes degrading intelligence and creativity.

If Neuro was allowed to create her own "important" memories, it would be something akin to a Self-coding AI, which Vedal is far more knowledable about than me and has stated how terrible that is. Heh. Man, that particular life lesson has always fallen flat with me, because trying to follow it as a kid wound up teaching me a very harsh lesson: some people absolutely equate kindness with weakness.
@warcheddar416314 күн бұрын
Im kind of confused why that observation would lessen the lesson for you. I feel like its actually weak to not be kind because your afraid of how others might think of you. Sure some people might see your kindness as weakness, but its in being kind regardless that you find true strength.
@kairon15614 күн бұрын
@@warcheddar4163 For me growing up with this dumb rule and doing what's right for others (treat them how I want to be treated) has often times had people treat me like an NPC or a doormat with no free will of my own; thus leaving me feeling resentment toward the fact I never learned how to be assertive like at all, and thus never learned how to express myself and so I've never figured how I wanted to live my life. Being overly Altruistic and giving more of myself to others than I should have "Treat others how I want to be treated" has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

@@kairon156 at the end of the day, people will treat you with kindness if you treat them first(or not in that particular order, you treat them kindness either way if they treat you kindness first) If you give them a hand, they'll take you by the whole arm(quote from nightingale from kcd) sure people can have a hard time treating others without anything in return, and I'm fine with that. I got self satisfaction seeing others happy with or without me regardless. But in your particular reasoning, preventing people from taking advantage of you. Time will tell, and sooner or later, they will remember your kindness even for the smallest detail.
@warcheddar416314 күн бұрын
@@kairon156 so 1) im sorry that you have had these poor experiences in your life, i dearly hope that your future will be brighter. 2) calling it a rule is very weird, if it was mandated to you like a rule when you were a kid thats... strange doesnt feel like the correct word but it should get the point across. Its not a rule, its more of an ethical standpoint, you should never be forced to treat others how you would want to be treated in their shoes, but imo its a very valuable consideration to how you should treat people. 3) you can be both kind and assertive, in fact in alot of situations you are required to be assertive in order to be kind. Kindness is not just agreeing with people and doing anything they want, kindness is acting in ways that are considerate of other people. And in fact one important way to be considerate of other people is to make sure to rest yourself, draining yourself being too altruistic without reprieve might be done from a place of trying to be kind, but it is often more of a hindrance then a help in the long term.

the answer is there are reactive and set people. set people spew the same thing no matter what. reactives respond (usually in kind or to extract maxemum value). So the truth is treat people as they diserve to be treated but use kind as the default so good reactives do the same for you.

@Nikolapestanac15 күн бұрын
They might not deserve it, and you might not be obligated to give it, but you actively choosing to do good because you want good things to happen is important. YOU choose to help because YOU want to help, not because they deserve the help. Maybe this random person won't appreciate it, but someone else will. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, but one day, someone will see your good deed, and will be inspired to help someone else, and if you decide to stop after a few setbacks, how does that improve the world?

You're right. Respect is earned and kindness is optional when you do/don't feel like it.
@Soluswithyou15 күн бұрын
It's a more nuanced proverb than people give credit. You should always introduce yourself in a way that you wish to be reciprocated. If that treatment is not properly reciprocated, then you no longer have to keep yourself to the ideal standard. That said you still have to treat others better than they are treating you, as doing so avoids escalation and demonstrates a superior sense of discipline. Basically if you cannot get the best, then you can still be the better.

Being kind to other can do harm involuntary. (helicopter parents, too nosy, too clingy, many other examples) And not everyone will want that. That much is true. Cutting people out of your life because they are toxic to you even if they mean no harm is also valid. BUT that does not contradict this lesson in any way. DON’T BE MEAN TO OTHERS, just don’t. No exception. Even if they are not kind. At most, avoid them, call them on their bullshit, but nothing more. Be kind, always.
