Yes, India is called punya bhoomi(pious land) or Ved Bhoomi(Land of Vedas). It created many rishis who have realized god within and thus realized the universal order set worth as Vedas. You watching this video itself says you are blessed and you are on the right path of spirituality. Don't wish for rebirth. Wish for moksha or salvation. The thing is we won't get liberation even if we have a desire for achieving it. So the best way is to realize we are not body or mind, We are that neverending consciousness atma or soul. We take birth and die till we see everything as one and become one with reality. Hope you realize your true self in this birth only and become one with Brahman. Om 🙏

As always a delight to hear Dr.Ramsubramanian and Swami Sarvapriyananda. The question posed on probability vs karma was so gracefully answered by the Professor and subtly reemphasized by Swamiji when he concluded that both of their maturity and grace to provide answers in a non intrusive respectful manner is something I will carry with me. I pondered over that thought probability vs. karma. Two thoughts emerged: 1. By accepting probability over karma it appears that possibility does exist. On analysis what is discovered is by giving 'chance' more value we remove the 'astitva' that runs as an undercurrent in this Creation. By removing that 'astitva' we negate our own 'astitva' which is THE KEY. This was subtly pointed out by both the Professor in his lecture and Swamiji towards the end when he said Manhattans have plenty of intellectuals who like to float without concluding. Probability /chance is a great intellectual talk but when life hits us personally, karma helps alleviate a troubled mind. 2. Second thought that emerged was, ok, agree probability/chance/luck might have played a part. Now, what is chance/luck? Why only luck/chance worked for Bill Gates and not others in his class? Is there another variable that came into play for Bill Gates? Could samskArA fit that gap?
@rajeshganeshg Жыл бұрын
What Dr Ramasubramanian is explaining through Vedanta is not the whole and it is only just a fragment of the first layer of truth. Things go very deep beyond one's comprehension. Your first question clearly shows how superficial this whole session is because it is not a matter of whether one accept Karma over probability or vice versa. It is just an intellectual session which is of no use to oneself once they leave this session. Very superficial indeed. He didn't explain what Karma is and how it is formed in the first place. He simply diluted by including Sushma sarira which he has read already that too not remembering what all those ingrediants are and Jiva, Param etc . Its just a read information which doesn't do justice to him in the first place. Its not in his experience and he didn't ponder that much. KARMA Lets first discuss about Karma. This can be approached in many different ways. Karma is nothing but Newton's third law of motion in a gross sense. Its there to maintain the overall balance. The concept of Karma applies whenever one, self identifies their actions with themselves ( doing & doer). If there is no self identification then there is no new karma. But without any self identification one cannot do any action / reaction is the case for majority of people in this world. That's because the act of self identification happens through ones own mind. Karma can be further categorized as Sanjitham, Prabtham and Agaamiyam. Sanjitham means sum total karmas yet to be realized from the very first incarnation till now of the soul. Prabtham means out of Sanjitham some quantities of good and bad karmas are taken for that soul to experience in this life time. Because one can't experience all the Sanjitham in a single life time. It will be too much to bear. Agaamiyam means new karmas being created in this life time of that same soul. This is how the karmic cycle operates. For a soul to attain liberation all these three karmas need to be nill. Then only physical (stulam), subtle (shusmam) and causal (karanam) bodies get dissolved. That's not an easy task. Till then the birth and death continues in different realms. Yes, for the realized Souls there is no new Karma. But what about the old karmas which are yet to be unfolded? They've to wait till all the Prabtham and Sanjitham to dissolve. Till then they will have to be in this human body in this world. This is true for a Jnani too. They have free will and can choose to do whatever they want up to a certain extent. That free will can't contradict with the universal laws which are there to maintain the universal karmic functionality. For example, if one has full free will do you think they can dissolve all persons' karma and vanish them? Even though they are capable, universal laws won't allow that to happen. There are so many different beings (hierarchy - different frequencies) between a human till the absolute Brahman. Then the higher beings and Gods would've done that before. Then there won't be any creation existing. This applies to everyone but absolute Brahman. Even God's incarnate in human form is subject to Karma. They can't escape from it. So the free will, will be used in certain constrains and in very rare occasions only. It can't be misused. 99% they won't show they have and won't use it If they use it then new karma is created and they need to work for it. Not many are ready for that. No one can understand karma's functionality in its entirety. It is very, very deep. Actually, the realized beings seldom use their free will because they very well know the implications of Karma and will normally align with karmic's flow than anyone else and won't disturb it. You can observe this in their lifestyle. If subject to Karma how do you expect one to decide 'consciously and harmony with the soul'? Mind is the field in which Karma is being implemented. Without mind no new karma. Nine planets are responsible for that implementation. That's the reason in astrology they study about these planets. It doesn't matter whether its Sattvic or Rajas. Sattvic being a positive attribute is subject to Karma. To attain nirvana one needs to sacrifice sattvic too. Free will is a BIG DELUSION which is the play of Maya. This whole creation is also Maya's play. Just one thought is enough to bring one down. You can assume or believe that you've free will according to your level of progress. That's up to you. Similarly, almost everyone thinks that they have free will. EGO That is an enormous force which binds all the atoms of our body together. It is needed for one to have this human body if not it will simply disintegrate. It has its own need and hence its created. Without ego no human body and self rea lization is possible. MIND Almost all the actions we do in this world only strengthens our minds. A new born baby doesn't have a mind on its own which you can see from its eyes. Its eyes are so pure and that attracts us to it. (There is a proverb 'Face is the index of the mind.' Actually face is not the index, its the eyes that are the indices of the Self.) Only opposite poles anract each other. We do have our own minds and no mind attracts us. In simple terms mind is nothing but a collection of our thoughts. Thoughts are nothing but our past. All our expectation / desire / longings are in future (which we don't have right now only we desire or long for). The moment you start thinking you are in the past and the moment you start desiring you are in future. But we have only been taught how to think and desire from our childhood and nothing else. We don't have any other tool with us from this society. This applies to every part of the globe. Fortunately or unfortunately life happens HERE and NOW. But we are not here and now. Might have been in few instances but not on our own. We are either in our thought or in our desire in a given point in time. Means we always miss this moment which means this very life itself. By this, all our beliefs are mere substitutes and are not true. If you have a direct encounter then there is nothing to believe about. But we only have beliefs about everything in this world. Absence creates this belief system and presence dissolves it. Presence means being present in now. This belief system is THE MATRIX / MAYA / ILLUSION, ... and the presence is AWARENESS. Mind is always either in past or in future and it cannot survive in the present. That's its survival mechanism. Mind is a tool given to us to use in a need but now it is only using us. So no choice is possible to an individual.

The cause of birth in spirituality and pious family becomes foundation of a child. Parents are like living university where child learns automatically watching the behaviour of parent with child. That’s known as Sansakar. Upto age of 10, children grasping power is most powerful. What one can saw in conscious of children upto age of 10 becomes a growth in life. Upto the age of 4 months, child remember past life and feels that he has been dropped in unknown environments. Slowly and gradually he/She is forgetting past life and becomes conversant with present parents and family. Though I didn’t read what Professor has described in this video but one branch of astrology too can predict about past life.

In the context of "Sanskara," I believe these individuals are manufacturing machines. I haven't followed all of these rigorous practices myself, but I distinctly recall contemplating the essence of life and developing my own fundamental understanding. Nowadays, I frequently listen to scholars from various religions, prominent philosophers, and esteemed scientists. It is through this engagement that I assess how my thoughts or fundamental perception of life may have deviated. I have come to realize that there is virtually no difference at all. The only disparity lies in the scholars' extensive memorization and their use of examples when conveying their ideas. As they do so, the listeners are often amazed by their intelligence, and I, too, marvel at the vast knowledge stored in their minds. However, I don't possess the same ability. Despite this, I have observed that to comprehend life as it truly is and lead a virtuous and respectable existence, humans don't necessarily need to read numerous books or solely rely on those gifted with exceptional memorization skills. Instead, one can simply pose fundamental questions to themselves, and the answers will reveal themselves. The truth is, while you may obtain the answers, applying them to our daily lives is exceedingly challenging. I have been struggling with this aspect myself. There are countless combinations in which we can lose our way, and consistently staying on the right path is quite arduous. Nonetheless, I manage to live a fair and content life. Undoubtedly, I experience stress, anger, and a range of other emotions, just like everyone else. Yet, in the end, I am able to set aside these emotions and appreciate life as it is. Personally, I believe that teaching children specific ideologies from an early age can detrimentally affect their lives. They may start believing that the Vedas, Upanishads, Smritis, and Srutis, or any other guidance, are the sole directives for life. My personal belief is that no one should become overly attached to anything-no books, no material possessions, and no human beings. Instead, we should remain connected to them and move with the natural flow of life. That, in itself, is sufficient.

Nice explanations by Prof. K Rama about "Karma" as mentioned in Vedanta. I wouldn't have grabbed that term better than this. Law of Cause and effect. An additional viewpoint from my side is that Karma can be seen as an aggregated accumulation of all behaviors, characteristics (like Sub-quantum information) gathered by Atman from previous lives till this point + any characteristic transformation, good or bad habits of the present, ongoing birth in the living individual.
@indianmilitary Жыл бұрын
Immanent Athma is beyond space and time and cannot "gather" anything. Even though the experiencer of everything, athma is NOT the doer of anything. Only 3 gunas of intelligent energy or Shakthi control matter. Reincarnation happens only if wrong assumption is made (due to ignorance and ahamkara) that we are mind and body and the doer of everything. It leads to accumulation of memories, likes/dislikes in the subtle body Chitta. CHAPTER 13 VERSE 21 (The experiencer of the field) purushaha prakritistho hi bhungkte prakritijaangunaan | kaaranam gunasangosya sadasadyonijanmasu || 21 || Purusha, when seated in Prakriti, experiences the qualities born of Prakriti. Attachment to these qualities is the cause of his re-birth in good and evil wombs. CHAPTER 5 VERSE 8 (ATHMA IS NOT THE DOER) naiva kiṁ cit karomīti yukto manyeta tattvavit paśyañ śṛṇvan spṛśañ jighrann aśnan gacchan svapañ śvasan While seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, eating, walking, sleeping, and breathing, one who knows these yogic truths, their manas steady in yoga, says, “I am not the doer of these actions.” Chapter 14 verse 10 ( 3 gunas compete to control the matter) rajas tamaś cābhibhūya sattvaṁ bhavati bhārata rajaḥ sattvaṁ tamaś caiva tamaḥ sattvaṁ rajas tathā O Arjuna, from moment to moment, these three gunas are competing to control matter. Sometimes sattva suppresses rajas and tamas; sometimes rajas controls sattva and tamas; and at other times, tamas overwhelms both rajas and sattva.

@@indianmilitary When i used word "gathered" (Gruhitvam) in the context of Jivatma, all i meant is that Brahman itself carries impressions of subquantum information (of memory, of innate behavior of underlying living being). There's no other thing than Brahman, the consciousness. But, on level of Jivatma, things look bit different. Here's what Bhagvat Gita says (and I fully concur with this both rationally and technically): Adhyay 15, Shlok 8: शरीरं यद्वाप्नोति यच्चप्युत्क्रमतीश्वर: | गृहीत्वैतानि संयाति वायुर्गन्धनिवासयत् || 8|| As the air carries fragrance from place to place, so does the embodied soul carry the mind and senses with it, when it leaves an old body and enters a new one.

There is subtle cat-mouse in "critical thinking" with firm grounding base. This base sometimes becomes "faith", "belief" that some intellect fall back. (as swamy mentioned in the end)

Sir could have taken the context of talk to different level. Karma destroys karma as Sankara bhagavatpata says, Cause being high, effect being low in Mundaka upanishad

With due respect to his knowledge, I was trying to understand the “karma theory being a hypothesis”. I don’t know Samskrtam neither do I have exposure to many many concepts he spoke about. However I have read Mahabharata where in lot of references are there for karma theory. Even the birth of dharma devata Yama as Vidhura was due to karma. How could it be a hypothesis only?

🙏 you should refer to the Sandharbhas for an easier and more direct explanation of this subject both from prtaksha paramana and other paramana also. In particular to Tattva Sandharbha.
