I am Russian and my religion was supposed to be Orthodox Christianity. I started wondering what was the meaning of life when I was 14. Then I had a spiritual experience, when I felt one with the world, I just prayed and felt love and forgiveness and compassion towards all living beings. I tried to explain this experience, I studied all the major religions. I found the best explanation in Hinduism. Our prominent writer, Lev Tolstoy, said that "either there is no God, or everything is God". I cannot agree more.

Vedanta has always been with the thought that many paths lead to one God realization. Ramakrishna himself worshipped as a Christian and it only served to expand his worship. However to keep things comprehendible for the public for actual transformation to happen; Eckhart’s views are closer to Advaita Vedanta imo than Plotinus teachings which are very tough and subtle in terms of theology. Through Ammonius Saccas, Plotinus may have been influenced by Indian thought. The similarities between Neoplatonism and Indian philosophy, particularly (Samkhya), have led several authors to suggest an Indian influence in its founding, particularly on Ammonius Saccas. If all humans had started to become ideal , and made a quest for mokksha, by some strange leap of faith, would we have had any kind of civilization? I mean, does thinking one pointedly only of Who Am I, let us achieve anything in secular life? It that not thought to be worthwhile in vedantic view?
@sumitdutta70437 ай бұрын
@@ByHerGrace22 So you are assuming that all will go out looking for Who Am I?. This assumption holds no value as it never happens only a handful of sociely go for that goal, since the eligibility criteria is very high, so don't worry about that. Maximum don't even have the ability to do that kind of Tapasya. Majority of the society always is and will be into 'lust and money' Slowly people progress. Also you are separating secular life with spiritual life, what Swami Vivekananda wanted was to divinize the secular life. Most of the advancement in humanity happened because of thinkers etc, in there calm state of mind.
@ByHerGrace227 ай бұрын
Thank you Mr Dutta for sharing your opinion. I really don't want to get into long argumentative discussions This thought arose when I personally try to follow, in a very limited way, what Vedanta says, that is to think of God, chant our mantra every waking minute. I find I cannot do much constructive thinking on my secular jobs, or even think in a creative way. Perhaps I am wrong, but I feel I am limiting the faculties God has given me as a human being. And again , the great men who have taken civilization forward, did not overtly do meditation, or repeat God's name, as such. Perhaps they were gifted with the quality of "sthita pragya" due to good deeds in some birth. I don't know. But as a normal human being, I feel many of my potential might be unrealized in the quest for the Divine. Of course vedanta would say it is all Maya. Then why does God give special gifts to some of his children, if they are only born to repeat His name? I wish Swami SPNji would answer some of our questions. Then we would not need to argue 😞

No one will be judging😅
@AdvaiticOneness18 ай бұрын
This is why mainstream Christianity is dying.
@imaginaryuniverse6328 ай бұрын
I would say there's a great many streams of Christianity. I believe the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ to St John says plainly, though cryptically as an allegory, that judgement day, Day of atonements, is when we learn that there is no one to judge other than the self. The Revelation begins when John is in the spirit on the Lord's day which means focused on the breath, imo, asking who am I. God said, Be still and know that I am the Lord thy God. Rev. 1-5 Jesus Christ is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead. The faithful witness is the knower of the field and the dead is the person we appear to be but aren't. It's the same story as Jacob in the land of Pineal, Noah's arc, Joshua bringing down the walls of Jericho. Pineal means face of God, Noah means peace and Jericho means chaos and the people of Jericho represent the chaotic ideas in our minds which don't know the reason for the golden rule. Corinthians says Faith without reason is faith in vain which means for our own purpose or against the golden rule. There is only one place to find reason and that place is within. We don't need to go within because that's where we view the world as the land of Pineal. Before wrestling with the angel Jacob sent his worldly possessions and obsessions across the Jabbock River which means to empty and yada yada yada it was revealed to him that he was the face of God which he acknowledged when he confessed to the angel I am Jacob. I am is the Lord thy God and the faithful witness of all the dead as the Life of their body. Jesus said the father is in me and I am in you. God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son who taught us to pray the Our Father. God said, Judge not lest ye be judged. It's confusing because we believe we are our thoughts and that we can ask ourselves a question and we believe it is our self that answers. The mystery is how do the answers come and how did they get to the place they are kept sometimes called the Akasha. It's an eternal mystery because the mother of creation is unknowable like a virgin. I think Genesis would probably be more accurate as reading, In the beginning God said Let there be light and then said Holy Ghost where did that come from! 🙏
@gomtiwad23458 ай бұрын
Surely..do you still be in judgement day? God is so petty that he will judge his children?
@imaginaryuniverse6328 ай бұрын
@@gomtiwad2345 The word judgement says judge the mind. I believe our minds are judged at the time of judgement which should not at all be seen like a sentencing of the convicted but rather an evolution of understanding. Who will judge the mind other than the knower of the mind? Who would know the mind at some supposed future time other than the one that knows the mind today? What is judgement other than the answer to a question? Who would question the mind? Who would know the answer to the question? It may be that judgement day is just when we choose to question the mind rather than follow it blindly. 🙏

True, the ultimate aim of both Christianity and islam is global domination. Conversions are tribalistic ideas, it doesn't have anything to do with Spirituality! It should be called out! These types of conversions are affecting Hinduism very badly, Conversion teaches people to forget about their roots and replace it with a new identity which is fueled by misinformations about the indigenous traditions and cultures.
