I am born a Christian and , despite my attachment to Sri Ramana Maharshi, remain a Christian at Heart . However , it is only advaita Vedanta that has given me an understanding of Christianity that churchianity couldn't. 🙏✝️🕉️
@OrichalcumHammer Жыл бұрын
You are fooling yourself by claiming you are christian at heart. You can say since you are brought up as a christian in christian majority country surrounded by social aspects of the Church within your private life, that you are a christian at heart. Did you investigate about history of Judah and Israel and the circumstances surround Jesus Christ during that time which is when Roman had destroyed and occupied Judah and Israel? Jesus Christ actually believed and preached the world was going to end during his followers lifetime-(Matthew 16:28). Christian martyrdom that initially puzzled Romans was because followers of Jesus Christ actually believed(knowledge about universe lifespan was not known then) the world was going to end with Jesus's 2nd coming(any day now for christian as they were living in end times), they are going to be resurrected. (Isaiah 26:19). So if you want a christian martyr today you would need to deprive him of the knowledge and basic modern understanding, indoctrinate them into just pure biblical literature (similar to what muslims do to create Jihadi) then he would be ready to die believing he would be resurrected in few days. This core tenet of 'End times' or 'Judgement day' is what was used an instrument of fear used by Romans to create Christianity and islam also drew inspiration from Jesus preaching fear of 'end times'.

issue is Sanatana Dharma is mistaken as a religion... but it is actually a civilisation ... it has been forced to be fit into the template of a religion... it is an open architecture that deals with spirituality... the various sampradayas inside sanatana dharma can be called as the various rituals but a Hindu by nature has nothing to do with religion as such ... it is just Dharma... Dharma can never be a religion... its a way of life .. way of looking at things ... its never a believer vs non believer ...its universal to all irrespective of what one believes or follows ... so the moment u cross the barrier or believer vs non believer.. u have actually become a Sanatani ... irrespetive of your personal rituals

Great discussion on the Mahabharata war. The question on the futility of war can have this answer: 1. Let us say that Arjuna and Pandavas abandoned war and lived outside the kingdom as exiles for the rest of their lives. It would mean that in the face of a powerful and unjust tyrant you cannot fight however just your cause. In spite of being the most skilled warior he gave up his fight after so many attempts at conciliation. They did not ask for their full share, only five villages, even after Duryodhan's many attempts to murder them.(The "activist" must give up is implied.)The ethical consequences of not fighting are more disasterous. The important point is Arjuna follows Krishna's teaching and does not fight in anger or hate. 2. It is like saying Rama fought a war that destroyed Lanka all for the sake of one woman. Consequence: even the king cannot protect one woman his wife. One can do any kind of violence to women.

I am forever thankful that Hindus like me don’t have a founder. We have had spiritual masters, saints, rishis who found different pieces of understanding god, aspects of life and tabulating things into Upanishads, Vedas and such. Also, Hinduism unlike others is not a salvation religion. As to Hindus not seeking other faiths like Judaism, I think the Hindu mindset is grounded on reasoning, allowing mind to be challenged and NOT taking anything written down or told as the ONLY truth. If only these other faiths can challenge and show them a real and different path, I think many will want to hear it out, reason it out and accept it. I being a Hindu, I am open to hearing others out. But I lose it with dogmatic statements or if I am told to believe something without allowing my head to process it. I believe that is the case with many Hindus.

This fiery serpent whom Moses made Israelites worship was given the name Nahushtan. Interestingly the word Nahusha is also available in Mahabharata, where one of the ancestors of the Pandava brothers had the name Nahusha, he was a great king and he performed many great fire ceremonies and rituals known as Ashwamedha Yagna and because of that, he had been made king of Lord Indra's heaven. But because of his mistake, he received a curse from Sage Agastya, and because of that he fell on the earth and turned into a big Python. So we find here the similarity between the word Nehushtan - ( in Hindi the meaning of this Nahushtan is Nahusha - the name of the person and Tan - Sthan the place of residence, so Nehushtan means the place of residence of Nahusha.)

40:49 Her question was excellent and utterly relevant to the horrific, Talmudic way that the IDF is trained to treat their own Arab and Christian neighbors. We all know which nationality was behind the use of America's military to commit the mass homicides of the good people of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and the complete destruction of the homes, mosques, churches, the very lives enjoyed by these people up until this homicidal "Nakba" was applied to them. Yes, this was the nation of "Israel" -- a nation born of the mass murder of innocents, and the herding of all survivors into the largest open-air prisons that the world has ever known.

Alas, at a time like this, by evading a question as sincere and pressing as this thoughtful woman's question, we have thus been told everything we will ever need to know about the purely tribal priorities of Mr. Gottstein.
@firstthings747 Жыл бұрын
100% agree. But it's unfortunate that the Talmud was missing from her question. Though it's understandable that she would hesitate, we all need to start having this long overdue conversation about those truly evil, adharmic books. The Talmud has deluded so many poor souls still trapped inside the Hebrew mindset. It is this Talmud that needs to be permanently banned from all countries. At this point, I think a dramatic, even ceremonial burning of all existing copies would have a healthy, cathartic effect.

@santojghosh, absolutely agree. I wonder if you or another like-minded viewer can help me make sense of something along these lines. In a more recent video on this channel titled "Upholding Human Dignity in Times of Conflict," Swami-Ji speaks with the same rabbi for a one-on-one convo. At around the 50:00 mark of that video, after the rabbi remarks that he has received an influx of messages from Indians supportive of Israel, but not as much from the West, the rabbi tries to elicit a direct comment from Swami (cont'd)
@baingani Жыл бұрын
on his view of the current conflict. At 52:00, Swami appears to assert that the show of support from Indians for Israel is because Indians have moral clarity on this issue in a way that Westerners do not. This, to me, implied that Swami thinks that current critiques in the West of the Israeli government's actions stem from a lack of moral clarity, which I feel couldn't be further from the truth. Can anyone else comment on their understanding of Swami's remarks. I hold no human on a pedestal, but I would have expected Swami to hold a more humanistic view of the situation.
@santojghosh11 ай бұрын
@@baingani Thank you for adding more clarity to this issue - I was not aware this new conversation. Though I think Swami's tactful response was understandable given such unrelenting aggression coming at him from this committed Talmudist, the results were obviously unsatisfying to the viewer. Yes, a highly spiritual consciousness opens the door to a morally healthy understanding of any specific issue. The two cannot be separated. With this in mind, we should never adopt unthinkingly the moral dictates of the television attached to our wall. On the contrary, we should be suspicious of its attempt at programming our consciousness.

40:56 Note the Rabbi's reaction when this noble-minded woman exposes the horrific violence of IDF training -- a training that his own government has made mandatory for all Israeli young people, including the Israelis she is speaking about. At this point, my concern (and I believe hers) is NOT for the impact of this violent training on the Israelis themselves, but ONLY for the innocent civilians of Gaza, including many thousands of women and children getting brutally murdered by the very people trained to think and act with such horrific violence.

Aside from the ignorance of how the violence in Gaza, this time, began, with "women and children getting brutally murdered by the very people trained to think and act with such horrific violence" - in your words, although now referring to Hamas and their war against Israel, a country with whom they have never sought any kind of peace. And the words fit perfectly, don't they? The questioner comes across as simple and undeveloped spiritually, talking about 28 day courses, for goodness sake 🤣. She is hardly a deep soul posing a serious thought to be considered with any kind of substance. Both Swamiji and the rabbi quickly understood this, of course, leading to the immediate termination of her premise. Having ignored (or being ignorant of) the millennia-long war against Hindus and Hindu India by Muslim invaders who have always attempted to convert to the death to their religion would not fit the popular point of view. Today's India of Hindu nationalists are hardly such a peaceful movement, too. Some live with great delusion born of the ignorance of the world we all inhabit, what Hinduism understands as Maya. Everyone deserves peace.

For reaching the "higher I" as Rabbi says, we need to go away from the society. After achieving the "higher I" we may come back to the society. That's what Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa did!!

Any person who “crosses the street” to find better ways to know God and to understand oneself is intellectually and spiritually far more advanced than those who only know one way to kneel. I tell no one how to seek God. I also do not entertain anyone who subliminally (or in your face) try’s to control your view on you knowing and seeking a relationship with a HIGHER “S”ELF. Thank you for validating that there are a thousand ways to kneel to God. Shalom, 🙏. Namaste 🙏 .

Judaism does have a lot to offer. I think most Hindus want a dialogue - when you have dialogue, you understand each other better and it creates stronger bonds. The Rabbi should look at Sufi interactions with the Bhakti movement in India to get a better sense of what is possible.

I read in a book by Helena Roerich that Christ was Indian, and this was known in the 11th Century. I felt happy, excited, thrilled, ecstatic. I am Indian, born in a Hindu household and later baptised because Christ came to my heart. His life story is one of great love, he was happy sitting with a Jew and a Muslim sitting each side of him. I felt so happy. That's how Palestine and Israel should be.

One of the essence is what you classify as Hinduism. Generally a religion should have set of rules by following which you are said to follow that religion. But many of the vednata are not set of rules or guidelines but more of how life works - explanation, rational view.. Hence irresepective of ones religion, anybody can try to understand the way of life. Also, if one wants to reject the explanation, they are free to do that without any implication. It is more internal to individual then outwardly to the society.

Just as Judaism is said to have better roadmap to practice the jewish lifestyle to keep it alive, Even when Buddhism overpowered Vedic civilization, Kumaril Bhatt and others raised Mimansa school to revive the structure of Vedic living model among householders. So, while it has been a challenge for many hindu household living outside Guru Ashram or guru influence, to follow Hindu lifestyle, some form of updated mimansa school today will help Hindus outside such ashrams. Second thing is that while vast majority of Hindus appear to be not under Adwait Vedanta, whatever mixed lifestyle Hindus follow these days, people are retaining concepts of experiencing God within and in temple and continuously moving towards Adwait Vedanta as they grow and achieve purusharthas! Doors are not closed for mixed life living Hindus to uplift themselves and experience God within and outside and no one is looked down upon for their position on spiritual path. My humble 2 cents.

01:39:54 On the failure of religion to stop violence. We have given a very broad scope for what constitutes religion. Any group of people with a common 'god', norms, ceremonies is treated a religion. This would imply football is a religion too - you just need to see supporters of football clubs don their jerseys, scarves, sing club anthems, glorify players, share a common aspiration (next year we get promoted to the top league) and share meals. Islam and Christianity are lower religions that resort to violence & revenge to enforce group think and including them as 'Religions' simply tarnishes the original purpose of Dharma.
