First Sutra of Vedic Maths.
Meaning: One more than the previous
Used to find
(i) square of numbers ending with 5
(ii) Product of numbers whose sum of digits at units place is one and rest of the digits are same.
(iii) Finding some vulgar fractions whose denominator ends with 9

5/23 will be 15/69 by multiplying it with 3 in the numerator and denominator Applying ekadhikena purvena method we'll get the form 15/70 which will become 1.5/7 Using division method: Firstly divide 1 by 7 so we'll get 0 as quotient and 1 as remainder then before copying 5 after the remainder 1 we have to add 5 in the quotient i.e. 0. So 5+0 = 5. Now we'll write down this 5 after 1 which is our remainder and we'll get 15 on dividing 15 by 7 you'll get 2 as quotient and 1 as remainder and you know rest of the process. Using multiplication method: We have 15/70 i.e. 1.5 /7 Applying ekadhikena purvena method we have to write the last digit of 1.5 i.e. we'll write down 5 and here we'll get 1 as carry that means that we have to copy the last digit as it is and rest of the numbers now are treated as a carry. So write down 5 and 1 as a carry. Now multiply 5 by 7 we'll get 35 and they we have 1 as a carry so it will be 36 so we'll write 6 and treat 3 as a carry and this will go on till we get the repeated sequence.
